If the connected features in your 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, 2023 GMC Canyon, or 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ have been flaky lately, General Motors just confirmed you are not imagining it. GM has released Customer Satisfaction Program N252501791, a free-of-charge field action covering all three vehicles, and the fix takes about an hour at your dealer.

The program was announced to dealers in an urgent “distribute immediately” message on August 13, 2026, and the bulletin is now live in GM’s service system.

What’s Wrong?

According to the bulletin, certain 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, 2023 GMC Canyon, and 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles “may experience reduced or intermittent Telematics Control Module functionality.”

The Telematics Control Module (TCM in this context, not to be confused with the transmission control module) is the vehicle’s communication brain. It handles OnStar, the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, the myChevrolet, myGMC, and myCadillac mobile apps, remote commands like app-based remote start and lock/unlock, and the vehicle’s connection back to GM. When it misbehaves, those features get unreliable or drop out entirely.

The Fix Is Free Software

No parts are involved. Dealers will reprogram the Telematic Control Module to the latest software level, a job GM pegs at 0.8 hours of labor time. The service is performed at no charge, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, through August 31, 2028.

One important note for LYRIQ owners: because the LYRIQ is an EV, the repair must be completed at an authorized EV dealer by an EV-trained technician. Confirm that when you book your appointment.

Already Paid to Fix This? Get Reimbursed

If you already paid out of pocket for a repair to correct this condition before the customer letters went out, GM will reimburse you. Submit the reimbursement form (included with the owner notification letter) and your documentation to your dealer, or mail it to the GM Reimbursement Department, PO Box 33170, Detroit, MI 48232-5170. Claims must be submitted within one year of the date on your customer letter, unless your state allows longer.

What Owners Should Do

GM will mail letters to owners in the USA and Canada, but there is no reason to wait. Call your dealer, reference program N252501791, and have them verify your VIN is involved. The dealer checks eligibility through GM’s internal Investigate Vehicle History system, so a quick phone call settles it.

This is a customer satisfaction program, not a safety recall, so there is no NHTSA campaign number attached. Still, connected services are something you pay for, and this is GM making them work the way they should. For more field action coverage, keep an eye on our recalls and TSB pages.
