Chevrolet’s order guides for the 2027 Tahoe and Suburban are out, and while this isn’t a redesign year, there’s a genuinely long list of changes worth knowing before you order. A new color, a couple of new off-road packages, some quiet standard-equipment upgrades on RST, and a fair amount of shuffling around which packages require which other packages. If you’ve ever tried to build one of these on the configurator and hit a wall because two options wouldn’t combine, this is the kind of stuff that explains why.
If you’re cross-shopping GMC’s version of these trucks, the story is much the same but not identical. The 2027 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL get their own round of order-guide changes, including a new Coastal Dune color for the AT4, an all-new Elevation Preferred Package, and Super Cruise going standard on Denali. We pulled this straight from the RPO (Regular Production Option) order guides for both trucks, so the codes in parentheses below are the same ones you’ll see on your build sheet or window sticker. Tahoe and Suburban share almost all of the same changes for 2027, with just a couple of small differences we’ll call out along the way.
New for 2027: White Sands and Two Off-Road Packages
The headline new feature is a new exterior color: White Sands (G42). On Tahoe it’s available on 1FL, RST, and Z71. On Suburban, it’s offered on RST and Z71 only.
Off-roaders get two new options: Adventure Package 1 – Basket (RGC) and Adventure Package 2 – Box (RGD), both phasing in mid-26MY and continuing into the 2027 order guide. Exact contents vary by dealer literature, but the naming suggests roof basket and cargo box style adventure gear, aimed at the crowd that’s already loading up their Tahoe or Suburban for overlanding and camping trips. There’s also a new Black wheel locks LPO (SPZ), a small but popular dealer-installed option for anyone who’s had wheels walk off a truck in a parking lot.
Suburban specifically also picks up new 20″ x 9″ High Gloss Black aggressive aluminum wheels (NZW) as a new feature outright, while on Tahoe those same wheels become newly available on Z71 (they weren’t offered there in the 2026 model year).
RST Gets Friendlier, and a Little More Standard
RST buyers get some genuinely nice news for 2027. Heated and ventilated front seats (KQV) and 4-way power lumbar for both the driver and front passenger (AVK/AVU) are now standard equipment on RST, neither was available on the trim at all in 26MY.
The package logic around RST also got simpler in one way and more particular in another. The RST Capability Package (RGK) now includes the Max Trailering Package (NHT) instead of requiring it as a separate add. But the Advanced Technology Package (PDN) on RST now requires both the Comfort Package (Y55) and Max Trailering Package (NHT), and it no longer requires the RST Capability Package to be ordered alongside it. If you’re chasing the tech package on an RST, pay close attention to that dependency chain when you sit down with your dealer’s order guide.
One more RST-relevant change: the Advanced Technology Package on LT and RST is now available with the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine (LZ0), something that wasn’t possible in 26MY. If you wanted the diesel and the tech package together, that combination is finally on the table.
Trailering and Tech Packages Get Consolidated on Premier and High Country
The bigger structural change for 2027 is how Chevy has bundled trailering and tech content on the upper trims. On Premier, the Max Trailering Package (NHT) and Enhanced Trailer View (ZM1) are now included equipment, but only available if you also order the Sun and Tow Package (PCU). That same Sun and Tow Package requirement now extends to the Rear Seat Media System (UW9) and power-retractable assist steps (B3L) on Premier, both of which also now require the Advanced Technology Package (PDN). Speaking of which, PDN is newly available on Premier at all for 2027, while the previously available Technology and Entertainment Package (PDG) has been dropped from that trim.
If you want either the 6.2L EcoTec V8 (L87) or the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel (LZ0) on a Premier Tahoe, both engines now require the Sun and Tow Package as well. That particular engine requirement applies to Tahoe; it isn’t called out the same way on the Suburban order guide.
High Country sees a similar consolidation. The Technology and Entertainment Package (PDG) no longer includes Enhanced Trailer View, and instead, Max Trailering Package and Enhanced Trailer View are now included content tied to either the Sun and Tow Package (PCU) or the High Country Deluxe package (PDM). Speaking of High Country Deluxe, it now includes Super Cruise (UKL) regardless of which engine you choose, previously that wasn’t guaranteed across the board. Ordered as a free-flow option instead of through Deluxe, Super Cruise on High Country now requires the Sun and Tow Package, and it’s newly compatible with both second-row bucket seats (ATN) and the second-row 60/40 split-bench (ATT), so you’re no longer locked into one seating configuration to get hands-free driving.
Z71 Changes: Rear Seat Media Becomes Optional, New Wheel Choice
Z71 buyers should note that the Rear Seat Media System (UW9) is no longer bundled into the Z71 Off-Road Package (RFP). For 2027 (a change that was actually updated mid-26MY), UW9 becomes an available standalone option on Z71, but it now requires the Z71 Off-Road Package to be ordered first. Worth knowing too: the Rear Seat Media System no longer includes the two Bluetooth headphones that used to come with it, on any trim.
On the styling side, those 20″ x 9″ High Gloss Black aggressive aluminum wheels (NZW) we mentioned above are newly available on Z71 for Tahoe (Suburban already gets them as a straight new feature). Black mirror caps (S4X) are also now available as a free-flow option on both RST and Z71. Previously, that option on RST was locked behind the RST Dark Essentials Package (PCH), and it wasn’t offered on Z71 at all in 26MY.
Cosmetic Details Worth Knowing
A handful of smaller trim changes round out the 2027 order guide. Black nameplates (RIK) are now a free-flow option across every equipment group except Z71. Black assist steps (BVE) are being simplified too: they’ll be black across every equipment group going forward, with the chrome accent strip and gloss black accent strip options dropped specifically from RST. And the Dark Essentials Package (PDB) is newly available on both Premier and High Country, having previously been limited to other trims.
What’s Been Deleted for 2027
A few items are leaving the order guide entirely. The 2WD High Country 3LZ configuration is gone, along with the Cypress Gray exterior color (GBD). The LS Custom Edition (PCI), which bundled 22″ 12-spoke polished alloy wheels with a Dark Android finish (SMD), has also been discontinued.
On the accessory side, Chrome center caps (RXJ), Bright aluminum center caps (VW9), the Interior Protection Package LPO (RGH), and 1st and 2nd row all-weather floor mats LPO (VAV) are all deleted for 2027. If any of those were on your must-have list, now’s the time to check with your dealer about remaining 2026 inventory.
The Bottom Line
None of this amounts to a redesign, but it’s a substantial mid-cycle refresh of how these trucks are packaged. The general direction is clear: RST gets more standard comfort content, the upper trims (Premier and High Country) are pushing trailering and tech gear into bundles tied to the Sun and Tow Package, and Z71 continues to gain both capability and standalone options as Chevy unbundles some of what used to be locked into the off-road package. If you’re ordering a 2027 Tahoe or Suburban, it’s worth walking through this list with your dealer line by line, since a lot of these changes affect what you can combine with what.
