Order books for the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 are open. Sources familiar with General Motors’ production scheduling tell us dealers have been able to enter retail and fleet orders since August 6, ahead of any official announcement from GM.

Public confirmation surfaced this week in a thread on Reddit’s r/Silverado, where a buyer shared a GM Order Workbench printout for a retail-sold 2027 Silverado 1500 ZR2 short crew cab, printed August 27. We held this story until we could verify it; that document settles it, though early order-bank behavior can vary from store to store.

What “Open” Actually Means

Dealers can spec and configure 2027 trucks in GM’s order workbench, for both retail and fleet. Those orders sit in the system as preliminary (status 1100): saved and in line, but not yet accepted or scheduled. No pricing has been released, so you are committing to a configuration, not a number.

Orders start moving once consensus and DOSP cycles run. We covered both terms in plain English in our 2026 order cutoff story; short version, consensus is the monthly GM-dealer allocation agreement, and DOSP is the cycle where orders go active and get scheduled for production or flagged for constraints. Per our sources, the first 2027 DOSP cycle ran August 27, so the earliest orders should be going active now.

Before You Call Your Dealer

The October 12 start of production is explicitly tentative, pricing has not been released, and GM has not published official 2027 order guide details. Any of these dates could move.

What you can do now: talk to your dealer, get a preliminary order into the workbench so you are in the queue as scheduling ramps up, and plan to confirm pricing before your order goes final.
