Greetings, all. ​I'm still learning here and am wondering about something I ran across recently. (Sincere thanks to everyone on here who has already been a huge help to me thus far!) I understand that the increased-power/heavy duty alternator (part number 22949467) appears to have made its way into many 2015 CrewCab models and other models with the snow plow-prep package. It seems tied to RPO 5W4 (which, in several sources I've researched, ties back to "VEHICLE SPECIAL SERVICE, MUNICIPAL" - makes sense for a snow plow-prep package). ​I scored a fantastic deal on one of these units for my 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 DoubleCab 4X4. Being an LTZ, my Silverado has most of the current-drawing goodies. It also is about to have the factory Kicker subwoofer upgrade kit, an on-board air compressor (Viair 40049) and a full front/rear dashcam set-up with active/passive monitoring. I've also just paired all of this with a brand new AC Delco AGM deep-cycle higher output battery (P/N 94RAGM). In other words, all of the further current-drawing goodies are here and ready to be installed when the weather here gets a bit warmer. Are my electrical upgrades going to be good enough to support an already high current use truck with an extra draw or three?

Hey there. I'm new to the forum, but not nearly GM forums in general. My brand new-to-me 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Double Cab LTZ Z71 4X4 has gone in for window tint and full detailing just this past weekend. Now that this work has been all done, I've made my introduction into the "new member" forum already. However, I now want to make a quick introduction to this specific interest group of friends. Myself, I own a Glock 41 Gen4 MOS and have my concealed carry permit. I'm proud to be a responsible owner and am looking forward to learning from, and participating in, this specific forum category. Always great to meet like-minded individuals.

Anyone have experience in pulling the factory front strut assemblies out from the bottom - without disconnecting any ball joint and/or swaybar links, etc. - like a weekend driveway boss? Although I can't find the original link following all of my research on the subject, I recall a fellow owner once saying that it can indeed be done on our '14/15s. Any confirmation of this fact? If not, I'm totally great with the driveway experimentation, and subsequent "sticky" write-up(s), that I've become renowned for on many other GM forums that I've been fortunate to have participated in.

You bring up great points here, sdeeter19555. However, to make a very long story very, very short... I moved up here to Pittsburgh, PA (from Orlando, FL) in order to get a master's degree from Duquesne University. I brought my Florida purchased/tagged 2011 Chevrolet Equinox 2LT AWD up here with me. In early July, some <ahem> creative individual executed what I now understand to be colloquially referred to as a "Pittsburgh Left" upon me (i.e. I had the green light, I fully indicated that I was going to be crossing over the highway and the other driver assumed that he could 'beat me' in crossing left over the intersection in front of me...he misjudged just a tad bit ). That said, this Silverado has never, ever been a Florida truck. I was diligent about researching the history, so I know that it was first registered, brand new, in Michigan; I'm only the second owner, temporarily, here in Pennsylvania. Both my dealer and the Pennsylvania DOT representative I spoke with confirmed that the classification is correct. Heck, man, I'm still not even fully grasping these annual inspection requirements and what not. LOL! We just don't have this kind of thing nearly to the same degree in Florida. I really wasn't planning on getting a new vehicle anytime soon. However, had my Equinox not been totalled, I never would've been able to earn this dream truck and begin to get to know all the fine folks on this particular forum.

No idea what's going on up here, my friend. I contacted my dealer in this matter and they said, verified by a Pennsylvania DOT representative, that I'd have to strip no less than 201 pounds off of this truck before they would even consider a re-class. Your profile mentions that you're a fellow Central Floridian. What part? I'm from Orlando (Avalon Park - used to own a townhouse in the Spring Isle subdivision) myself. On an aside, you've got good instincts in having Pennsylvania on your short-list of states this far up. The folks up here are good and the Fall scenery simply cannot be beat. However, that said, I was born and raised here. And I lived in Central Florida for over a decade. Appreciate your spot in CFL, and let's look to create some awesomeness when I get back. LOL! Yeah, man, it confused me too. ESPECIALLY since I also own a 1993 Chevrolet K3500 Cheyenne Crew Cab Turbo Diesel 4X4 that's been registered in Pennsylvania for only about the past year or two...but received no weight class rating whatsoever. Pennsylvania will always hold a special place in my heart (since I was born and raised here), but I am, admittedly, looking forward to getting back to the sun and stress-free life back in Florida.

Amen, sir! I used to live in Pennsylvania (born and raised properly here, actually) decades ago, well before I moved to Florida. But so, so much has changed. Some good, some bad. It happens everywhere. Pennsylvania will always be my "home" state (NO state is more picturesque in the Fall), but there are some things that still remind me of why I moved to Florida in the first place. No disrespect whatsoever; Pennsylvania gave me many wonderful experiences/gifts, but, yeah, I'm also looking forward to getting back to Florida.

Got it. Thank you for the info, sir! I was more than a bit confused. You'll probably get a kick out of this too then. I called the dealer because I thought my little colored registration sticker for the plate was wrong. In Florida, it's strictly tied to the owner's birthday (all my stickers have always been in March). So now, with this Silverado, that I'm already in love with, I have inspection stickers showing August, a plate registration sticker showing September and purchase documents showing October. Which brings me to my next reply... Man, Pennsylvania has an "interesting" system indeed. This is an absolutely gorgeous state and the folks here are really nice/cool, but these vehicle requirements are something else for a Florida boy like me.

Hey, all. I'm a new member living in Pittsburgh, PA at the moment, until I complete my masters program at Duquesne University and move back home to Orlando, FL afterward. I just bought a brand new-to-me 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Double Cab LTZ Z71 4X4 (my FL-owned/registered 2011 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 AWD was totalled a couple months back). All that said, I have no idea how registration is handled here in PA. Registering a pickup in Florida is pretty darn easy and straightforward (heck, the dealer had to explain to me what the ugly "inspection stickers" on the windshield of my Silverado were all about ). I got the permanent PA registration sticker and stuff in the mail today so I can take the temporary signage out of the back window and what not. I thought it was going to be straightforward...until a "PA. TRUCK WEIGHT CLASS 3" sticker fell out of the envelope. What the? This is my personal, 1/2-ton truck, that's going to see fairly light duty at all times. Is this correct? What is this all about? I'm trying to research this issue myself as we speak, but the PA state websites aren't exactly all that helpful; I thought I'd also draw on the expertise of my fellow members here while I continue researching... Thanks in advance for perusing my "plight" here. HA!

That's correct, last truck. They're the Rancho QuickLift LOADED leveling struts (springs already installed; complete, ready to directly install units. Without having to compress and/or remove any springs form either the original or replacement struts, O_J_Simpson, I'm wondering if it's possible to drop the old unit right out the bottom without having to remove ball joints or even sway bar links? Work has been crazy this week, so I've only been able to start doing very minor upgrades thus far (the truck is getting tinted and fully detailed tomorrow - I'll post a photo when it's done), but I did a little looking under the front of the truck. It looks as if this might be able to be done.
