2015 Yukon XL. I have 3 friends with this same truck and all of theirs had failed. I thought maybe I was just lucky, but not anymore. Mine failed yesterday. The part is on national back order. I am guessing this is because so many of them are failing. One dealership said good luck finding one as they have 7 customers currently waiting for the part. My dealer said they have been going aftermarket, and buying as many as they can. But now you cannot even get an aftermarket one because of the demand.
One of my friends who went to an independent shop said they were told that all of these condensers are faulty. They all fail in the exact same place. Said there is a bad weld from production.
A quick search of the internet reveals that this is a widespread problem. The fact that the part is on back order would indicate that demand is high. These condensers should not be failing. Of course GM will not acknowledge that there is a problem. Instead, they make the customer pick up the $700 tab for replacing a part they know is defective.
It's been a bad month. Prior to this, my truck was in the shop because the pump in the transmission failed sending metal shrapnel through the transmission. Took 11 days to fix, but at least it was under warranty ($2,400.00) along with the leaking transmission cooler line. Only had 248 miles left on the 100,000 mile power train warranty.
I feel sorry for those that have a 16 with the horrible 60k mile warranty.
