Did I forget to mention that it won't start with the key at all?? The problem started with what seemed to be the starter relay being bad, it would refuse to start via the key then I would take the relay out and reinsert it and it would start with the key in a normal manner, then it stopped doing that and I had to run a hot wire to the 87 leg on the relay... then is started doing this ...I installed a new ignition switch but nothing changed

No remote start no automatic anything just a stock 2003 Silverado 1500 extended cab auto trans 2 wd

Thanks Sorry I should have mentioned that was my thoughts on it so I installed new ignition and relay still the same problem..

2003 Silverado extended cab 4.8. Engine cranks when Inserting the starter relay,if the key is on it will start but the starter continues to engage until I pull the relay out, engine then continues to run fine
