  1. I posted about a week ago that my 1992 K1500's wipers and washer were not working properly in a couple of settings. @dogbiscuit correctly assessed that the problem was the wiper pulse board. I replaced that and now the wipers are working in all settings, except that they now are straight up when in they are off, or when they are pausing between intermittent wipes. Anyone have a clue on what's causing that? Thanks, Woodman
  2. I bought a 1992 K1500 GMC Pickup a few months ago and it had an existing issue with the washer fluid pump in which the seller said it would not turn off, so they removed the fuse for that. But also the wipers only work on either high speed or with a manual push of the washer tab (so they don't work on intermittent or regular low speed). When turned off, they stop wherever they are and do not return to the down position. I have now been in enough highway rain that this situation is bugging me. Does this seem like a problem with just the switch in the arm, or is it likely all of the way back to where the harness for that plugs in under the dash or even farther? (A lot more labor to get the whole harness out.) Any idea how to test to determine where the problem is without removing lots of steering column and dash parts? Thanks, Woodman
  3. Thanks for the input everyone. It's currently running the traditional green stuff. I hadn't thought about the potential gasket issues brought up by @txab. That's a good catch. I think I will stick with running the old green stuff. From what I've read, I think GM Spec 6038-M is a low silicate version of green. I will look for something like that. It's weird that the orange Prestone Dex-cool I bought said it was an exact fit for my vehicle, but the jug says otherwise.
  4. This truck is new to me and it needs the cooling system flushed and the coolant replaced. The owner's manual calls for coolant that meet "GM Specification 6038-M". That spec is no longer supported and it NLA. After some research, I thought I was doing the right thing by getting... Prestone Antifreeze/Coolant GM Vehicles Dex-Cool CONCENTRATE *5 Year/150K Mile Protection* 1 Gallon (Part # AF888) which I plan to dilute, of course. But, upon seeing the jug, it says it is orange and specified for '95 and later GM models. I am on the wrong track? If so, what should I be using?
