I have a 2017 Silverado 1500, 6.2. I recently installed the S and B filters cold air intake. First off, I was extremely impressed by the quality of this kit, the ease of installation, and the fitment. I highly recommend it! After taking off the stock airbox and filter, it is clear that it was built in large part for noise reduction. This leads me to my question. When driving around under normal conditions, I hear a slightly deeper engine tone and growl, Which is great, that’s the reason I bought it.
However, when the truck is under heavy throttle and acceleration, especially when towing, I would say “growl” is an understatement. It’s not deafening, but it’s more than noticeable. To be honest, I thought there may be an issue with the engine based on how much different it sounded. I kinda like it, although the wife hasn’t heard it yet and she may disagree. I guess my question is, has anyone had a similar experience with their CAI and I just wanted to make sure this is normal and there really isn’t an issue I don’t know about. I don’t notice any performance drops or lights coming on, so I tend to think it is just the air intake. Thank you!
