  1. My mis-shifts were so bad that it would lock my rear wheels and break traction for a second, causing the cruise control to disengage. Was quite violent, and I have a 5.3L gasser. 22K miles on my new transmission, and so far I’m alright. Wish I knew about the NextGen’s when I was dealing with my repair fiasco.
  2. Sure did, it’s buried in the first few pages of the thread. Took about 3mo for it to get fixed. My dealer was able to get a whole new transmission.
  3. As the OG on this thread, first I’d like to start by saying I’m sorry for the people STILL getting dinged with this valve body issue. As far as for me, about 20K miles since the replacement and things are running as they should *knocks on wood*. I’m hoping things will last, but it’s just hard to tell with GM these days.
  4. Thanks for the walkthrough, Dan. I encourage all of us to do this. Although, GM’s recall “fix” for the previous model years is to add software that alerts the driver to take the truck in to service approx 10K miles before it will fail. I presume GM will then order a new valve body, punch in something via computers at the service center to acknowledge the message to return the truck to full power, and then you’re back driving while the valve body is on order. I guess it’s better than most experiences here being without the truck for 3 months, but still…what a cluster.
  5. Really incredible how many responses this thread enabled with the same issue. I feel for every one of you guys…hopefully y’all are back up and running soon! And I concur everyone’s resentment of how GM is treating us…just ain’t right.
  6. In my experience, my dealership used Hertz. I was first put in a Z71 Suburban (they had no trucks available), but that then developed an oil leak (only 23K miles on it, ha!) and was put in an essentially brand new Suburban Premiere. I was told the only stipulation was that it had to be a GM vehicle, but was authorized for a full-size truck, Tahoe, or Suburban. I was in a rental for 2+ months. Per the rental invoice, GM had to pay a pretty penny on the rental. In regard to how I received a new transmission vs a new valve body, I think a lot of it had to do with a sympathetic Service Manager at my dealership that went to bat for me with GM, and me always being respectful to him and his service advisors. Don't get me wrong, I was immensely frustrated being told no ETA for repairs time and time again, but this is a GM issue. And by the looks of it, it's quite a big problem.
  7. Man, this thread really took off. Sorry to hear about everyone having similar issues as I did. I’m about 5000 miles into my new transmission and it’s still running fine *knocks on wood*. Keep pressuring your service managers for new transmissions (with the new part numbered valve body)…just a valve body order seems to just leave you without your truck for months. And I’m sure we can all agree, that is just unacceptable.
  8. Update: After discussions with a lemon law attorney today, I contacted the dealer to get an invoice of the service record for the valve body. My service advisor had a curveball to throw me: they received approval from Chevy to replace the entire transmission, which includes a new valve body, vice just the valve body. Apparently, it’s way easier to get a whole unit than just a valve body. New transmission will be here in 3-5 days, and a couple days to install. Will keep everyone posted if that fix works (I’m optimistic it will).
  9. Thanks, Mike. I spoke with the service manager today. He said they’ve called 10 other dealerships that allegedly had the valve body but to no avail. He also said they have someone that has been waiting 3 months for the valve body. Pretty much at the end of my rope here with GM.
  10. Thanks for the reply, Bikerjon. Like you said, hopefully others can chime in with their experience (if they have one).
  11. Wanted to reach out to the forum to see if any one has needed a valve body replaced for their 2023 Silverado? I'm currently in the process waiting on the part to show up at the dealer, going on for about a month now. I bought the truck new in Jan 2023, 5.3L Custom Trail Boss, and everything was fine till about 15K miles when I noticed a very hard downshift when accelerating, anywhere between 30-70mph. Usually the shifts were very violent, sometimes even turning my cruise control off because the truck chirped the tires and broke traction. Eventually took the truck to the dealer late November 2023 and they tried the software approach, which I understand, but no dice on that being the fix. I did some self-diagnosing and realized the hard shifts only started happening around 140 degrees on the transmission gauge and somewhere between 6-8 gear. Was able to get the truck back in to the dealer mid-Dec 2023 due to their availability, and was diagnosed with the valve body needing to be replaced on the transmission, and now stuck waiting for the part. Per the Service Advisor, there is already a new part number and a new manufacturer for the valve bodies, so perhaps GM is addressing a somewhat of an issue with the original valve body? Now the weird part is apparently GM is beholden to this manufacturer on when they ship out these valve bodies as parts orders, only receiving shipment once the local region has hit a certain quota, per the Service Advisor. I mean, at least GM has me in a comparable rental, but I sure would like to be back in my truck at this point. Curious if any forum member has had a similar issue in getting a new valve body for these 10-speeds on the '23 Silverado?
