Hey all, stoked to be back on the GMT platform.
As the title suggests, I inherited a ‘11 Sierra 1500 5.3 from my late uncle. It’s incredibly clean, only 75k miles and meticulously maintained. How I missed the 5.3, I sold an ‘05 Yukon a couple years ago.
However it’s not perfect. The main issue is the intermittent cruise control. I say it works about 10% of the time. The indicator light on the steering wheel turns on, but when I hit Set it won’t catch and the dash light won’t illuminate. And then sometimes it’ll work no issues. I noticed yesterday on the freeway it worked fine, but randomly kicked off and then wouldn’t work for the rest of the drive. I’ve heard the brake sensors on these trucks are so-so, is there a good way to diagnose this? I’ve tried hitting the brake and activating the cruise control to no avail. All brake lights work great and aren’t stuck on.
The second less pressing issue is the headlights will always be on, no matter how dark or light it is. It’s not too hard to reach over and flick em off, but is there a common issue with the auto headlights on this generation staying on no matter what?
Thanks all. I look forward to enjoying this one.
