  1. You good sir, are incorrectly assuming it is I that neglected the maintenance on this vehicle. This vehicle is new to me, barely more than a month new to me at this point. Update on my ticking, it is official now that it is in fact cylinder #1 that is ticking. I changed the oil straight away with premium 5w30 full synthetic with the GM recommended PF63 AC Delco filter. Whomever previously changed the oil, put a crazy generic universal filter on it :-/. So, currently, it is just a ticking. I do not have a Service Engine throwing misfire codes. It seems to run just fine. I guess all I can do really is keep on the oil changes at 3k intervals with a touch of Marvels Mystery Oil every change and hope for the best?
  2. I'm trying to figure out if my OE system is amplified or not. There is no Bose badging anywhere, no sub that I'm aware of, but it does look like it has the OnStar system. Some say that if you have the OnStar system in your vehicle, you have a factory amplifier. Is this true? I picked up a used Pioneer head unit to replace the factory one, it came out of his 2010 GMC Sierra 1500. He had the Bose system. It already has the mounting bracket, wire harness and PAC unit, assumingly ready to just toss in. I noticed on the PAC unit though, that there are 2 seperate plug spots...one is for factory amplified and one for non amplified. Since his was amplified, it's of course plugged into the factory amplified spot. Which leads me to questioning my system, whether or not is it in deed amplified or not. In the VIN breakdown, the only thing I see relating to the radio is "UQ3 SPEAKER SYSTEM,PERFORMANCE ENHANCED AUDIO ENHANCED SPKR SYS(UQ3)". And the rear view mirror has the OnStar buttons. 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Crew Cab 4WD
  3. I'm looking around at some used wheels and tires, mostly wheels, but the center bore is a concern. Are they the same between the two drive systems on GM? Also, would there be any clearance issues going from an 18" wheel to a 17" wheel? Yes, I'm aware that google exists, where's the fun in that? Give you guys something to do ya? lol
  4. I'm curious, does anyone know if the base CD/Radio will swap with the optioned DVD/Navigation unit without mod? Say I found the nav unit used on ebay or in a salvage yard somewhere, in the same model truck, would I be able to just swap them around? 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Crew Cab 4WD
  5. I likely remember the size wrong! It was a large bolt, fit just enough the threads went snuggly right into the center of the screen. 1/4" Hex Lag Bolt
  6. Hello, I saw a vehicle about this that instead of the usual 100 videos of a pic being used, he used a bolt...I believe it was a 5/16" bolt? I can't remember for sure, but it looked like it worked great! Just a small twist and pulled it up. I have not done this myself, I am only informing you of what I saw :-).
  7. This truck is a "new to me" truck that I recently bought used. It's super clean and has an extensive maintenance history, the previous owners apparently took great care of it. So it was surprising to me to hear the tick. I've only had it for a few days, so I haven't done any extensive investigating. I did just let it run and get to temp, which after 15 minutes of idle, it peaked at 210. That to me seems a bit on the high side? I haven't owned a V8 in a very very long time lol, but still, seems high? Also, after it's warmes up the ticking drastically improves, maybe it's not garbage? lol. At idle and at temp, the oil pressure sits at just a touch over 20, also seems low? Also, the check engine light is on and has a "oil pressure sensor" code, so maybe can't trust the 20 pressure read?
  8. Hello everyone! So, my lifters recently started to tick! My truck has 160k miles on it, it has the 5.3. It's a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE. So I'm curious to see how long others have been driving/living with their engines lifter noise?
