  1. I had an idiot hit me while sitting in a drive thru in my 2002 Sierra 3500 Dually. It cracked and put a hole in the left rear just under the tail light. That body panel (part no 15251777) seems hard to come by unfortunately and my body shop guy says he couldn't quickly find one. Any thoughts on finding one? The truck is in pristine shape and only 112k miles garage kept its whole life so I definitely want to get it fixed.
  2. Hi I have 2006 Silverado. I've noticed recently the plastic wire loom all around the engine is crumbling, exposing the wires. It's bad enough that just barely touching the loom will crack and break it off. Has anyone replaced that wire loom with something else and liked it? Any particular product that is a good replacement? I just don't want the wires floating around.
  3. Thanks for all the help folks, I successfully replaced the pump and all is well!
  4. Aaaah yeah I gotcha, great. The videos I was watching were older models that did have the fan clutch. Lol I didn't even pay attention that I don't have it, awesome.
  5. Thanks a lot @CamGTP that helps. I watched a few videos and do actually think it's something I could do. Can you help me understand what you mean by not needing to worry about the clutch fan? It is attached to the water pump so I have to get it off anyways right?
  6. I have a 2006 Silverado with a steady coolant leak, looking like from under the water pump but not 100% sure where the weep hole is or gaskets. Can anyone confirm? video of leak here. Replacing the water pump i sa little out of my wheelhouse, and it was last replaced about six years ago.
  7. I'm a huge VGG fan and just came back here after watching that video! Perfect timing! Now just to find the right rattle can. I was also thinking I could use part of the inside of the bed to test out the technique first.
  8. Bought new in 2006, has lived outside almost its entire life. Roof has what I assume is UV damage, hood has a ton of star cracking going on also. The rest of the paint is actually really good. I'm sure many on this forum have seen similar. I got a reputable local painter's quote at $1200 to replace and paint the hood and the roof they said can be a can of worms job and they're too busy to mess with it. My question here is what can I do to simply and cheaply seal off the two small rust spots (not even dime sized) and perhaps re-seal the roof to stop the spread of the damage? Since the hood could be easily replaced later I probably won't do anything with it until much later.
  9. My 2006 5.3L Silverado has about 160k on it and I've noticed a slow, significant drop off in gas mileage over the past few years. When it was brand new I got about 18-20 mpg, then for many years I was getting about 15-16, and just over the last two or three years it's more like 10-12. Any thoughts on things to address? I do regular oil changes, tire rotations, etc. Other than a water pump replacement in 2019, no major engine work at all. I did plugs/wires/belts/hoses at 105k. Any suggestions?
  10. Yeah I'm not sure I want to go to the trouble of replacing with OEM, will check out AEM and see if I can find one.
  11. I have a 2006 Silverado and have had a K&N cold air kit on it forever (this one). I'm long past caring about the performance or whatever and tired of cleaning the filter. Does anyone know of a conical paper replacement filter that fits properly in place of the K&N with this setup? I don't still have the OEM setup anymore so can't easily/cheaply go back to that.
  12. Just as a final thought for anyone else viewing this thread, it was pretty easy to just grab a $2.00 12"x12"x1" foam piece at hobby lobby for this. All they had was white, but I didn't really care just as long as that rattling stopped. I know you can find it in gray or black online but didn't care to pay or wait for shipping. Here's a photo. Not the cleanest cut but it's all good.
  13. Thanks for the replies. I actually contacted the manufacturer and they said they don't offer that part separately. Oh well. I appreciate the thoughts of sending me yours but I believe it's permanently glued on (which is why there's little crumblies all over my console now). I figured plan B was to just go get some foam at the craft store and cut it. Will just run with that. Thanks.
  14. My 2006 Silverado has a console that's still in great shape, except for the foam piece which keeps the loose change in place and keeps the lid from rattling. This foam has completely crumbled away and now the lid rattles like crazy. I see a replacement lid can be purchased for about $70, but really all I need is the foam piece. Does anyone know where I can get this or if it's even possible? Here's a photo from the Dorman products web page:
