So some of you are probably aware I had a little "incident" requiring me to replace both hood lift spring hinges and the hood hinge supports on both sides. I'm just wondering what order you would assemble it to prevent any further headaches or injury. So far I've marked with a sharpie where the hood hinge supports attach to my hood (three bolts each side) so it'll line up near where it belongs. I was planning on removing the one bolt and nut on each side of the hood near the windshield cowl that holds the hood to the truck. Then having a neighbor help me lift off the hood I will flip it over and install my new hood hinge supports (three bolts each side) I'm wondering should I wait until the hood hinge supports and hood itself are installed before installing the hood hinge that contains the spring (and lifts the hood) on each side? Or when the hood is off should I install the hood spring hinges? My theory would be it might be easier to install the hood without the hood spring assemblies installed yet so it could sit flat instead of in a lifted position. But I very well could be wrong The other option would be to install the hood spring assembly on each side while the hood is off (but would require my helper and I to lift the hood on in a raised position, then attach the hood hinges with the springs to the hood hinge supports in a "hood raised" position. I want to prevent a mistake or any major problem from doing this incorrectly. Also do you know if the hood hinges with the springs attach with the bolt side in or the nut side in? If anyone has access to information that says how this is supposed to be done and would share an image it would be greatly appreciated. If not, what order would you go about doing this? Hood hinge supports first (with the one bolt on each cowl side going in first, then lift hood to install spring assemblies, or install spring assemblies whole the hood is off or do I have this all wrong. Hopefully I made sense out of this because the parts come tomorrow. Thanks very much.

2012 Sierra 60k miles. Just notice the paint on the hood has a spot about 12 inch by 14 that the paint has lost its shine almost like it got hot. I opened the hood and there is a ground strap attached at the underside where the paint issue is. Is there a possibility of the ground strap getting hot? Anyone had this issue?

Does anybody know what the 2019 Sierra body parts are made from? The doors, hood and tailgate seem to be made of some type of composite material. I'm having it rustproofed and just am curious.

Factory GM Ram Air Intake on 2017 HD!!!
drcubanb posted a topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
I just saw this on Motor Trend. That factory functional Ram Air hood looks sweet on that 2017 HD! I really hope I can order it from GM and install it on my 2014 1500. http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-chevrolet-silverado-hd-gets-new-ram-air-intake-system/?wc_mid=4035:2017&wc_rid=4035:760203&_wcsid=9C50134876932B222E39377C1D9156F20E60611C45E6D1FB -
We had snowfall recently and I was reminded of past experiences when I had to literally dig my vehicle out of a snow pack. Will the new aluminum hoods on our trucks hold up under weight like the GMC's in the 80's? I also thought that an aluminum hood would also be less susceptible to dings from hail or other objects but am difficulty in finding material to support this. I know aluminum, like steel, comes in different strength and quality. I was wondering if this change of material serves as good or better than that found on previous models.

Hey everyone, just recently i got back driving a GM after selling my 95' Yukon somewhere at 2002. and for the past 4 months i'm rolling in a brand new silverado, 2500 HD, crew-cab LTZ. love this mean machine, just love it, but there's something not right with a specific area on my engine cover. it started a few weeks after i got the car, and just escalated from than: dents and deformation started to appear all around the DURAMAX patch, on the driver side! it looks like this specific area is too weak, even when i lay really soft pressure on it with my finger - not to mention that same situation when the hood is really hot after a long ride or when the car was sitting for a few hours under the sun. has anyone noticed that problem with their new Silverado? i've tried to search the web for any related issues about my problem, but got nothing.
