K General Car Audio Discussion Need help with installing remote start & push button start alarm Tags None Jump to LatestUnfollow 0 views0 replies K KurtsChevy 1 post · Joined 2025 #1 · a moment ago Hi.. I'm pretty new to this site and hope I can find some help. 1 have a 1998 Chevy Silverado K1500 pick up automatic transmission and 5.7 engine. I bought a Banvie remote start alarm system with push button start off Amazon. I realize now that there's a huge language barrier with this company. At least from China to Holiday Florida US lol. They have been very nice but all together unhelpful. I have had my pass lock 2 security system erased from my ECU/ECM. So there isn't any factory security system to worry about. And I removed the rod from the steering column that locks the steering wheel. (I was an automotive technician at a gm dealership for 15 years so I'm not totally incompetent, but that ended over 10 years ago and I never ever knew everything and I've probably forgotten more than I ever knew). I can follow directions and diagrams usually. Lol. I wired up a two relay packs for the lock and unlock feature of the alarm system and that works great. As for the remote start. I'm just really not sure what I'm doing wrong. I got my ignition wiring chart from The12volt.com . But I can't figure out how to post questions on that site... I'll attach a few pictures to this also to give you idea of where I'm at. #1 question I can't figure out is where to connect the "oil pump detection path". It is a wire for the remote start that sees 12v if the engine started and 0v if it didn't and needs to retry to start. So the wire needs 12v when engine running and 0v when engine not running. Since the truck has a mechanical oil pump, I tried hooking it to the little wire on the back of the alternator (and it worked for the remote start, but made my voltage gauge read 2-3 volts lower when running). So that's not going to work. I've seen online where people hook it to the tachometer. But the tachs voltage varies from like "I'm not sure" but 4v-10v or something like that. Not the 12v the remote star wants to see. There aren't any dip switches to flip either.... Could they actually mean Fuel pump when they say "oil pump"? Is there a +12v (only when engine running) wire that anyone can think of and help me with? That would be a good start. We can move forward with it from there. The banvie instructions exceeded size. I'll send it in on a response. Thank you Thank you, Kurt
