Corr HexEditor posted a topic in Performance Engine TuningHi, We are developing a new software program that focuses on removing DTCs from vehicles. Our support list is very broad and includes trucks as well. I would like to know if you would be interested in such a program? Or you may know people who need it. Let me know. Best regards.
Sufficient evidence ECM is bad
joncheryl posted a topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 15002000 Suburban 5.3L. I'm having problems with the injector circuit for cylinder 3 in my car. I removed the connector on the injector and verified that it's getting power (constant 12V when key in ON position and 14V when engine is running). When a test light was put on the ground terminal it illuminated but didn't pulse. When I looked at the voltage though, it was bouncing all over between 0 and 14V. I turned the car off and noticed the ground terminal had 1.7 kOhms resistance to ground when the engine is off. Thought that was funny as it shouldn't be connected to ground when the car is off and if there was a short, the resistance should be 0. I traced the wiring and didn't see anything wrong. I then found a diagram for the ECM connectors, located the terminal for the cylinder 3 injector (ironically terminal #3) and found the same 1.7 kOhm resistance to ground at this terminal. This was the terminal on the actual ECM not the wiring harness. 1. Is this sufficient evidence that the ECM is bad? 2. Can I just go to a junkyard and pull an ECM out of another 2000 Suburban with the 5.3L and put it into my car with no problems? 3. If not, does anybody have experience with flashmastersecm.com? Judging from ebay, they look reputable.
Howdy, totally new here with a problem. We have a 2007 Tahoe LTZ that developed an issue about a month ago. My wife is for the most part the only driver and weve had it since new. Since she retired she drives it about 1000 miles per year, mostly full of grandkids. About a month ago it started flashing "traction control off, service stabilitrak. It turned on a cel : p0101 lost communication with tcm. Shortly after the rear hatch wouldn't open, the shift indicator quit working, and it picked up a p0073 code. The next day it wouldnt start, showing a security icon. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it after 1/2 hour, it restarted, the security icon was off, I backed it into the shop, shut it down, restarted it with my scanner hooked up checked fuses, wiring for damage etc. It was on reduced power with the same codes, battery @ 12.6v shut off 13.8v @ idle the it died, the security icon was back. I disconnected the battery again, this time overnight, now it still has the security icon, wont crank or start and it wont communicate with my scanner. Im leaning toward the ecu as we had a similar issue with our Ford Powestroke a few years ago. I dont want to throw parts at this but Im kind of up against a wall at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated! I have a 53 m38a1 with a Kubota turbo diesel SM465 and less electronics than her stereo. My suggestion was to build something like that. Shes not interested. Thanks again!
Replacement of Engine Computer
T-Town-Z posted a topic in Gen III and IV Small Block & DrivetrainI did a search on here for replacing the engine computer and was surprised for not finding much ! We have an 05 Silverado with a 5.3 in it. The other evening, my wife went to see a friend and when it began to storm, she decided to leave. She went out and the truck was dead, no click, no crank. I went to get her and tried to jump start it (while it was still storming) and arcs came off of the negative terminal when the cable touched it. I stopped and decided to disconnect the battery till morning. Next day I go over there and reconnect the battery and the engine fans start running with no key in the ignition (probable reason why the battery arced the night before)! Battery voltage was down to under 11 volts so I took it to get checked since it was 5 years old. Got a new one, connected it, the truck fired up, and all seemed well. Took the truck home, parked it and 2 hours later I go to leave in it and the engine fans are running again ! When I drove away, I got about a mile from the house and the check engine light started flashing. Codes that came up were P0300 and P0480, random misfire and engine cooling fan code error. So..... I checked what I could, but then on Monday took it to an automotive electrical guy. He ran his diagnostics and while it was there, the fans came on by themselves again with no key on. He check his schematics, ran his checks and suspects the computer has some kind of fault. He said to get a salvage computer and he would re-flash it for my VIN. I checked around and found one local, but also looked online and came across "All Computer Resources" in Miami FL that sells reprogramed ECM / ECU / PCM automotive computers. I wasn't sure what to do, so called another electrical repair guy for another opinion. He said it could well be the computer, but would run his own checks before just replacing it. He was adamant about not using a salvage or reconditioned computer. Said he has been there, done that, and will now ONLY install new OEM replacement GM computers and flash them. Anybody out there have good or bad luck with a reconditioned computer ? Any thoughts or suggestions ?
Warranty claims with a BlackBear tune
miles5241 posted a topic in Black Bear PerformanceHas anyone had to claim anything warranty related to the power train while running a Black Bear tune? On my lists of things to do on my truck for this spring, is getting it tuned. I'm sick of how the transmission drives, and within the last month had to drive in a lot more traffic then normal. I just want to be confident that I can get at least 100k with the tune before something breaks.
i have a 99 sierra 2500 and want to drop a 2013 sierra 2500 engine into it. my question is, how hard will it be to do this. i am mechanically inclined and know i can mechanically fit this engine in my 99 by modifying a few things, but i am concerned on the electrical. i know i will have to use the ecu and wiring harness off the 2013 but i definitely need advise before i get into this massive project. i have the complete totaled doner car so i can use whatever i need of that. i am really concerned with the electrical and how to connect it to my 99. will this be possible? easy as plug and play? thanks so much in advance.
Hello, I am selling two items associated with a 2008 Silverado VMAX but they may work in other years as well. First is an engine control module. This is the stock computer that came out of my truck. I traded the truck in with the tuned ECM. $120.00 The second is a transmission control module. As you can see there is a black bear sticker on it but I would not be so inconsiderate as to re-sell this as a black bear tuned module. Take it for what it is: a spare core. $50.00
