Hopefully someone on here can help me, about a week ago I went and bought a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Ext Cab with the 5.3L Vortec Engine, It's lifted, with a Spectre Cold Air Intake. Me and some buddies went out to the local mud pits this morning and were having a good time, on my way out there was a mud hole, not deep at all but there was water standing in it. I thought what the heck and went through it with ease. Only problem is, the minute I came out of the water, my truck literally died. The water was deep enough to cover half of my wheels, when I was almost out of the hole, steam came out from the hood (from the water) I then noticed that my RPM's were gone, I pushed the gas and no response, I put it in park and tried cranking it and nothing at all. I got pulled to the side and I started trying to fix the problem, first thing I did was check the CAI, sure enough it was wet, and had evidence water had gotten inside. but not alot. I took it all apart, cleaned and dried it, then I cleaned and dried the Mass Air Flow Sensor, tried to crank it and nothing. There is dry mud water spots on the passenger side of the engine compartment, so I checked all the coils unplugged them and dried them out, I went to crank it again, I was able to start it by giving it some gas, except it sounds horrible. the engine shakes badly, it sounds like only a few cylinders are trying to work, RPM's will not go over 1000 rpm. There is a knocking/clicking noise now coming from the engine it sounds like it's on the driver's side in the rear close to the firewall. If you let off the gas it dies. I had it towed back, now it seems the alternator isn't charging, when you turn the key it makes a beeping noise and won't crank. If you put cables on the battery it'll start and do the same thing it was before. I'm puzzled, I went through this hole fast and I really don't think (well I hope) that it's just a sensor or something small that can be fixed. I don't think I hydro locked the engine or anything, a buddy of mine says he thinks that I might have a bent rod or a warped head but I don't think that's the case, I went through that hole with ease. If anyone might have any ideas on what I can do or check to see if I get a different outcome please let me know, I'm all ears. I'm going to have it looked at tomorrow
