  1. The transmission went out last November in my 98 k1500. I started it up a few times afterwards ( over the coarse of a month or so ) with the transmission still out. I have let it sit since then . I am fixing to get the transmission rebuilt and get it back on the road , but for some reason the Anti theft or “passlock” system has activated . It won’t let me do the “relearn procedure” either . I have no idea why it has activated and don’t have the money to by a new bcm or ecm. Can someone explain why it activated ?
  2. Hi this is my first post,my truck is a 1999 gmc Sierra 2500 4x4 with 6.0 litre engine.I parked my truck for a few months and the battery went dead since the day I owned the truck the door locks never worked and I always used the factory key fob for locking and unlocking the doors.I have since swapped the door cylinder so I have a working drivers side lock that works with key. When the battery died I needed to get into the truck to open hood so I could service battery so I broke into truck. Now the truck starts immediately and then dies classic passlock symptoms.I have tried both relearn methods the 10 minute method and the 30 minute method. When the truck is sitting the security light is constantly on bright orange. When I try relearn procedures the security light alternates between flashing battery then back to security this continues and never stops flashing between the 2.I have always had battery charger hooked up to prevent battery dying.I dont know if this makes a difference I also pulled the abs fuse years ago I doubt this is a factor but I thought the more info I give the better quality awnsers I may get.The other thing I would like to disclose is that my key fob has lost its programming and needs to be reprogrammed to unlock doors, will this reprogram while passlock is active.Had fob checked at gm dealership it is functional. Any help greatly appreciated.
  3. I recently got a 2000 chevy s10 LS 4.3 v6 4wd that wont start it cranks no problem everything else works but the security light is always on it never flashes its solid i have tried the relearn procedure 10 times nothing i have scanned it for codes got none i have tried putting a ziptie tip in the passlock plug in and nothing i have found a forum that is having the same issue but they did the resistor and it didnt work for them i dont know what to do to fix it and get it to run i dont have the money and dont want to take it to the dealer so dont suggest that if you know how to fix it please let me know thank you.
  4. Hi, I drove home one night from work and parked the truck. A chevy Duramax 2500HD 6.5 L. The next day, it cut out after running for 2 seconds. I had a bunch of off-duty mechanic types look at it. They plugged in the code reader. There was one code, for an open circuit glowplug on cylinder #5. We keep starting it. It dies after exactly 2 seconds. Always. Here is some information: The passlock security tattletale comes on, but goes off or might stay on randomly after the engine quits. Not to jump to conclusions, but it may be a passlock issue. I have tried the 10 minute relearn procedure 4 times tonight. The security/passlock tattletale will either go off or stay solidly lit the whole time. It doesn't go out after 10 minutes like it's supposed to. The code buddy live data shows the FRP hits about 50000 kpa when the engine quits. That should be lots of fuel pressure, right? I've got the charger on the batteries. It reads a nice 14.5 volts for VPWR on the live data. What else would cause the engine to cut out so consistently at time = 2 seconds? I need some ideas. Thank you! More info: Maroon color 4x4 Allison 6 SPD Will add more as I have to. UPDATE::: I have bought a tech2. I have confirmed by reading the engine control module that the Vehicle Theft Deterrent Fuel Disable is activating, thereby killing the engine. The problem I have is that when I go to the Body Control Module and look at the security data, the passlock states, and other values are reading normally. I'm not sure the passlock is the problem. However I get U1000 U1301 Lost communication with xxxx in most of the modules. For instance the instrument panel cluster, the heating system, body control module and so on. When communications are compromised individual modules use default values as a failsafe. So the truck might shut off.
  5. I have a 2010 Silverado 1500 and i am not able to start it up. I just replaced the fuel pump, but it still wont start up. There is an icon with a car and a lock so i assume its the passlock system. How do I reset it or bypass it(preferably resetting it).
  6. I have an 04 gmc sierra 1500 Z71. Out of nowhere the truck would start but killed itself immediately. The dash says unknown driver but the security light does not come on. The windows, locks, radio, and key fob do not work either. I have checked all the fuses and the battery ground and the grounds underneath the driver door, all good. I have also replaced the ignition switch and ignition lock cylinder. I have also tried to relearn the keys. I have disconnected the battery too. It is like the passlock is activated but the security light does not stay on. Checked passlock sensor and it is putting out 15 ohms and its harness is at just under 5 volts. Any ideas?
  7. I have a 2006 Silverado vin 1GCEK19V36Z172127 and I would like to know if it uses Passlock 1 or Passlock 2. I installed an aftermarket remote starter and at the point of hooking up and programming the Xpresskit PLJX bypass module. I just want to make sure I tap into the right wires coming from the ignition switch. I found small harness with a blue and black wire in an orange sleeve. I want to assume the blue wire is the one I want for the resistor value but we all know what happens when one assumes something.. Also it states to hook a wire to the ground in the passlock harness. Would that be the black that's in the orange sleeve with the blue wire? Or am I totally off base here. If you want to see the instructions I'm trying to follow you can download the manual here http://xpresskit.com/DocumentDownload.aspx?documentid=7073&productid=240&firmwareid=1424 I'm at the point where the remote start will crank it so I'm pretty sure that part is hooked up right. Any help will be appreciated.
