The owner's manual is very vague when it comes to using a WDH. It essentially states that a WDH is not required at all unless using MT or OOR tires, then only after 10,000#s. What are OOR tires anyway, AT tires? I've never heard tires called that before... Anyway, then looking at the trailering info on my door it states that my tongue weight limit is 1450#s. Ok, but if using a WDH doesn't that increase the maximum tongue weight to around 2000#s? If not, then there are 3/4-ton trucks out there with much higher allowable tongue weights than our 1-ton trucks. 4k# payload but 1450# tongue weight? I'm looking at conventional hitch toy haulers and most of them are already close to 1450# dry tongue weight and some are over that. But according to my door sticker my "1-ton" truck can't tow them. What gives?

Hello, I am buying a 8.5x20 enclosed trailer. I will be needing a brake controller. Are all the wires already there or do I need to run wires all the way to the back? If it is all pre wired I would do the install myself. Second question is would I need a WD hitch? I will have approx. 2000lbs of cargo in there. I am still waiting for info on the empty weight of the trailer. I have a 2011 Sierra 5.3L with the towing package.
