General Motors Arlington Assembly will get a $500+ Million investment to prepare to produce the next-generation internal combustion engine-powered (ICE) full-size SUV lineup.
The announcement was made during the same week that GM announced a $632 Million investment in ICE Full-Size Trucks and a $1 Billion investment in ICE HD Trucks.
“Today we are announcing plans for a significant investment in Arlington to strengthen our industry-leading full-size SUV business,” said Gerald Johnson, executive vice president, Global Manufacturing and Sustainability. “Preparing the plant to produce future ICE full-size SUVs reflects our commitment to our valued customers and the efforts of the dedicated Arlington Assembly employees, who have been breaking production records this year.”
Arlington Assembly, in Arlington, Texas manufactures GM’s T1XX based full-size SUV lineup, which includes the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Escalade-V.
The money will go towards new tooling and equipment in the Arlington stamping, body shop, and general assembly areas.
Arlington Assembly was opened in 1954 and covers 5.75 million square feet over 250 acres.
