General Motors continues testing the new HUMMER EV. We’ve caught plenty of spy shots of the all-electric pickup (Here , Here and Here) as it’s undergone testing over the past few months – but this particular prototype really caught our eye.

This GMC HUMMER EV that was recently photographed by our spy photographer has what appears to be some sort of unique (maybe autonomous?) testing equipment on the roof. It’s entirely unclear what this HUMMER Prototype is and what its purpose it, but we can certainly take a wild guess.
HUMMER EV Super Cruise Testing… or More?
It’s long been known that the HUMMER EV Edition 1 pickup will feature Super Cruise as standard. Are these “antennas” that are assisting in that development? Or are they more?
There’s a couple of options here to consider:
- It’s just a normal HUMMER EV undergoing typical development and happens to have some sort of GPS/Lidar/Radar/Positioning equipment mounted on the roof for whatever reason.
- It’s a normal HUMMER EV that’s testing an upgraded version of Super Cruise. Potentially Super Cruise 3 with additional features?
We won’t be exactly sure what this HUMMER EV is doing for a long long time. Maybe never. It could be an innocent prototype just going about normal testing or a harbinger of more advanced technology to come. We’ll just have to wait and see.
