mannsierra 0 Posted August 24, 2016 What kind of problem were you having,Were you just checking things out or you hearing noises?
FL335i 314 Posted August 25, 2016 At 16k I had gear oil leaking profusely to the point there was gear oil on the inside of the rim and tire. Dealer R&R the axle seal. Fastforward to about 43k.... I start seeing wetness on the same axle. I degrease. It's dry for a month-ish, then it's back. Repeat 2 or 3 more times, with about 1-3k intervals. Take it to the dealer at 51k to have them look at the leak. They do not acknowledge there is a leak and tell me I have plenty of warranty left if the leak gets worse and that it's residual oil I"m seeing from the 16k leak. Dealer just did not want to touch, that was the bottom line. So for safety sake, I pulled the rotor off to inspect if the E-brake shoes were contaminated with oil. Shoes are OK, but I did confirm the seal is leaking. The backside of the axle flange is wet, oil is clearly leaking out of the seal and downward. you can wipe up a gob of it on your finger just about anywhere in the area below the seal. The dealer was so lazy they refused to even remove the rotor to investigate. Dealer just wanted me outta there.
