    i went through all the 5.3 "fixes" at 30k miles.... shield, lifters, oil pump, eventually pistons, rings, cam.... now i have 60k miles and it barely uses oil.... lots of time in shop and fortunately my service guy never gave me the run around... he knew the hoops to jump thru to get chevy to pay and made it happen.... he has since been promoted to service manager ... it got depressing for a while but i love the truck and am glad i hung in...
