The ecotec 4.3 is a perfect match for this truck. My average is 20.9 over the last 3800 miles, mixed city/highway and towing trailers around 3k lbs. This v6 feels like it has the same power as my old 2004 5.3l. My best 400 miles run is 23.0 according to the computer. Im really happy with this engine. As someone who tows 8k-12k pound equipment trailers on a regular basis with my '05 3500 duramax dually I really dont understand why anyone would put a 6.2l in a half ton pickup and then try to tow 10k lbs. Yes, you might have the power to get up a steep hill but trying to control it in any type of emergency situation is very dangerous. Is there anyone here that had actually tried to tow 12k lbs? That's just plain stupid to put 12k lbs behind a half ton truck. If you need to tow that much just get a 2500 or 3500.
