  1. My 2015 Yukon XL has been in the shop 4 separate times (3 separate GMC dealerships) for the buffeting noise for a total of 34 days in the shop. They have replaced the shocks, exhaust, drive shaft, tires and the last time they removed the headliner and re-glued the roof bows, ZERO improvement. Also when they removed the headliner they must have damaged the antenna because now I have no AM or FM stations and my phone will no longer sync. Have to put it back in the shop for those fixes. Also have dash warning saying side detection system needs service.
  2. Spoke with Service Manager at Liberty GMC here in Charlotte. I had left his a voice mail last week telling to get GM involved as I want out of my Yukon XL. Over a month in the shop since I bought it at end of October. I told him I do not want "trade assistance" for another GM product. I'm not saying at this point I will never buy another GM vehicle. I've had numerous Suburban's, Tahoes and Yukon's over the years and they were good vehicles. But GN obviously got a major problem on their hands with the 2015's and I simply want out. I do not have the time to let GM experiment on my Yukon. I understand I have driven the vehicle for 6 months and I can accept some depreciation. I paid 72K out the door, of that about $67K was the cost before wheel upgrade, fees, taxes, etc etc. Kelly Blue Book is saying value is about 57K, so that is 10K depreciation in 6 months, which is excessive, considering my vehicle spent over a month in the shop during the 6 months I have owned it. GM if you are listening, I would like a 60K refund for my 2015 4X4 Yukon. XL SLT. Let's make this quick and painless for all. Spring is my busy time for business traveling and I need to get another vehicle ASAP and hit the road and see some customers.
  3. I noticed the booming noise in my 2015 Yukon XL within 10 minutes of leaving the dealership (Griffin Motors, Monroe, NC). I just assumed it was something minor and I'd get the dealer to "fix it" later as it was Halloween Day and I had to be somewhere. I went back to the dealership the following Monday and took the Service Manager for a ride. We rode around for about 10 minutes and he acknowledged the noise. They had no service loaners at the time so I did not leave my Yukon with them. About 2 weeks later I took my Yukon to Williams GMC near my office, took their Service Manager for a ride and he heard it too. I then drove a new Yukon off their lot and heard the noise. I left my Yukon with Williams for a week, they could find no solution. I then took my Yukon across town to Liberty GMC and they had it for 3 weeks. They did the (tech bulletin) roof panel re-bonding procedure and installed a complete new exhaust system. I've got my Yukon back. but it's no better. I just wish GM would take my Yukon back and give me a fair price for it. I don't expect all my money back, but 90% would be good considering it's only 6 months old with just under 6,000 miles.
  4. I've had my 2015 Yukon XL back for 1 day after it was in the shop for over 3 weeks (this time). The buffeting is the exact same, with no improvement whatsoever. I am having 500 cheap business cards printed up with details about the buffeting noise and a link to this blog. Every time I see a 2015 Yukon, Suburban or Escalade parked I am going to hand a card to the owner or stick a card on their window. The more people complain the better. I have also written both Fox News and CNN about this issue, but I've not heard back from either yet. If everyone following this blog would do the same maybe the networks would do a story. Please take a second and email Fox and CNN. I have the Ford dealership searching for a Expedition EL that meets my specs and I going to trade in my Yukon. I had a 2011 Expedition before this Yukon and it was a great vehicle, so guess I'm going back to the blue oval. The new Yukons are great looking, but as the saying goes, looks are not everything.
  5. Supposed to pick up my Yukon XL today from Liberty Buick/GMC. They have had it for 3 weeks. They did the roof fix and it did not solve the problem, then they installed a new exhaust. When I asked the service tech if the booming/buffetting noise was gone he hesitated and said yeah..... Going to take a long test ride, if it's not fixed I'm done with this vehicle. I hope GM will step up and buy this vehicle back. Trade assistance into another Yukon is not going to get it. If GM does not want to help, I'm off to a Ford dealership and will trade my Yukon for a Expedition and take the hit. I'll keep you posted. Quick shout out to the service dept at Liberty. Robert and Rocky have been great to work with.
  6. Don't think they applied a new roof skin, just re-glued or re-welded the skit to the roof braces. We'll see about the new exhaust, but I do not believe it will solve the problem. My Yukon only makes the roaring noise between about 35 MPH and 45 MPH. It's perfectly quite at highway speeds, but around town it've very annoying. I am convinced it is due to the engine switching to the V4 mode, while in 6th gear at low RPM's. It's like the engine is lugging along. It seems the simple fix would be to reprogram the engine/transmission so it does not go into the V4 mode at low speed and low RPM's. But heres the kicker. It would have a major impact on fuel milage, meaning my Yukon (or any Yukon/Suburban) would not get the gas milage that was stated on the window sticker. I had a friend who is the Service Manager at a Chevy dealer tell me there is no way GM wants to have to restate the gas milage on the 10's of thousands of Yukon/Suburban's they have sold. He said what seems like a simple and logical fix (reprogram) will never happen. There is no doubt GM has a big problem on their hands. It's just amazing this issue was not discovered during initial testing of the new style Yukon's and Suburbans. I just made the monthly payment to GM on my Yukon..........that I have not driven in well over 2 weeks.
  7. So Liberty Buick/GMC has had my Yukon XL for 2 weeks now. The removed and reinstalled the roof skin, but it did not solve the problem. Now GM is sending them a complete new exhaust system that is "supposed" to fix the problem. If this does not fix it I will push for buy-back. I did want to say the Service Dept at Liberty has been great to work with. They have stayed in touch and gave me a nice Buick SUV to drive. Very satisfied with Liberty's handing of this issue.
  8. I have a 2015 Yukon XL (SLT) 4x4 and it has the same noise problem. I have about 5,500 miles on mine. It's most noticeable between 35 and 45 MPH, in 6th gear when in the V4 mode. I have had it to three GMC dealers. The latest dealer (Liberty Buick/GMC in Charlotte, NC) has had it for a week and they are removing and re-gluing to roof now. I do not think this will solve the problem, but it's what GMC wants to do. If the issue is not resolved I am going to request GM buy my Yukon back. If they will not I will turn it over to my attorney for resolution. I have owned many Tahoe's, Suburbans and Yukons over the years, but I cannot live with my 2015 Yukon. So disappointing.
