  1. Yeah, the cargo lights don't do much with a cover like you have. You could always do the mod to make them work with your backup lights.
  2. I like my crew cab, but that is a really nice looking truck. There's something about a regular cab that really appeals to me. . . . . . . . . But I'm married, so I have a crew cab.
  3. That looks really good to me. It lifts higher than I thought it would.
  4. That makes sense. I bought the SE. But I thought it would be more secure to have them on the back when putting stuff on the top of the cover.
  5. I see you have the extra tie downs. I bought them with my cover but haven't installed them yet. Dis you use them much on your old truck?
  6. That was kind of a must have for me. With grandkids, we have 2 car seats all the time, so under seat storage was not really a good option since we couldn't just flip up the rear seats. I may have to get 1 of those bed steps to reach stuff in the middle, but I'll see how inconvenient it is 1st. They do have a shallower tool caddy, but it was the same price. So why not get the bigger one? They also have some side trays. Those wouldn't require a step. or running board.
  7. Installed a Diamondback SE cover with tool caddy. More pics & info in the Tonneau Cover Thread.
  8. And here's a pic of the tool caddy. It's hard to see, but on each side is a small separated area. So smaller things can be kept there, and they won't be lost in the larger center area.
  9. Installed my Diamondback SE with behind the cab tool caddy. It arrived at 10 AM, had it on by 11:45. I did it myself. It wasn't too bad. I could probably do it again in about 30 minutes now that I know what to do. I used a 5 gallon HD bucket filled with water to compress the seals while I adjusted the locks. All in all, I'm pretty happy with my initial experience. The tool caddy seems really stable. There was something I read somewhere saying that it might need to be screwed in. I really can't see that being an issue unless you're going doing some really rough off road driving. But time will tell I guess.
  10. Which boxes did you order. I ordered the deeper full width caddy to go behind the cab. I thought about the smaller storage boxes, but the caddy made more sense to me. I should be hearing about mine any day now.
  11. About how long did it take you? Did you have help? And what are your 1st impressions?
  12. I hope you don't think I was saying the hard tops are purely for looks. I'd have one if it weren't for the fact I know I'll remove mine a few times a year. And with all the Denali's & High Country owners on this site, along with decked out SLTs & LTZs that post here (me included), I think you're in good company.
  13. My BIL had a Lux (I think) on his old truck, and while it wasn't all that heavy, he said it was really hard to put back on. It required two people to make sure he didn't scratch his truck putting it back on. It looked good, but was just too restrictive for his taste. I've ordered the Diamondback SE. I don't have it yet, but from what I've read, it is about as close to water tight as you can get without going to a one piece hard top. The look isn't for everyone though.
  14. Has anyone installed a power retractible antenna? I've used search, and probably looked at at least 1/3 of this thread so far, and I don't see where anyone has done this. I did find a retractible antenna that's supposed to work. But it's pretty pricey if there are major issues, or decreases radio quality. http://www.carparts.com/details/AC_Delco/Antenna/AC88891017.html
  15. Finally got around to ordering a cover. I went with the Diamondback SE. It came down to his one, and the G4 Elite Fold a Cover. Some of the things I didn't like about Fold a Cover were the piano hinges. These probably work fine, but seemed a little lightweight compared to the Diamondback. One thing I liked about the G4 was also something I didn't like. The striker bolts look like the best way to latch a cover. But if you're up in your bed doing something, I could see where they could really grab a knee. Hurts just thinking about it. I also didn't really want a cover with rails. Seems like something that could be damaged when the cover was off. One thing I like about both of them is the ability to use a caddy with them behind the cab. (I ordered the caddy with my cover). I can lock the front cover, but not have to bother with locking the back cover unless I put something else in the tailgate. One of my criteria was not having to use a key to open the cover except when I was actually using the bed for transporting something of value. My other options were some additional tie downs & line-X black. BTW, they have a bike carrier option according to the pictures.
  16. I'm looking at that one, and the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite. Right now I'm leaning toward the G4 Elite. It seems more secure. The down side is I have to use a key to use it.
