  1. I have the same issue as the author of this Thread, hoping to find a solution here. 2005 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab, 5.3 "T" series VIN. Have replaced the battery and the alternator (Rebuilt original Alt, then when that didn't help bought one at Autozone, that didn't help, returned it. Bought an Ultima from O'Reilly's, which has been in for the last 4 years). Headlights AND interior lights flicker. Not "on and off", but just the brightness varies. Very annoying. Dash shows a battery alert light, message is "Service Charging System". Took to a dealer back in 2013, they pulled this code from DIC: "50 Engine Electrical. B1492 Generator F-Terminal Circuit. Low-Low voltage from alternator." They wanted to change the alternator, but I was on my 3rd new one so I declined. Notes: I have noticed that the error occurs as a result of a few seconds of idle. What I discovered was that, if I start my truck and immediately throw it in drive and head down the road, I don't get the alert - At least until a stoplight or something that forces me to idle for a few seconds. Supposedly this is due to some preset + or - variation of 5% in the computer. Lately, I started getting a squeal or feedback whine in the right rear speaker. I suspect it's related to this electrical issue, though for 4 years of this Charging System alert, the speaker did not whine until just now. I suspect this is a ground wire connection deteriorating. I have cleaned and tightened the ground wire from the negative battery cable that connects just inside the front left fender. I also cleaned and tightened two grounds I found just under the driver side front door - no change. Are there any other grounds to look at? Does anyone have any suggestions based on the Dealer's code? I am not against (sigh) changing to another alt if that's the consensus. May got with a 160 amp this time just for grins. Also, no aftermarket speakers, amps, stereos, all is bone stock. The trans was rebuilt before this problem began 4 years ago, in case that's a factor. Is there a ground in that area that I could check that might have been loosened? Thanks
