  1. Parts and Accessories search for shocks the 6XX and 7XX codes are them 6FZ COMPONENT FRT LH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (6FZ) Part# 540-619 - ACDelco Part# 20955498 - GM 7FY COMPONENT FRT RH COMPUTER SEL SUSP (7FY) Part# 540-619 - ACDelco Part# 20955498 - GM Eh, different RPOs, same P/Ns... GM is pretty proud of them, a C bill each. 'Tis true for the fronts, the rears are under the chassis code. RPO code: Z85 CHASSIS PACKAGE,INCREASED CAPACITY AC-DELCO says: CHAS PKG(Z85) Oddly, there is nothing listed for Z85, 2 Door, Standard Cab Pickup. I did select "WT" as the trim level...
  2. While under the land yacht, I noticed the bottom of both of my rear shocks were badly rusted, deep rust. They aren't leaking [yet], still work fine. Suspect they were originals, now I got @ 52 + K on the truck. I do have the Z82/Z85 tow package, so according to the ad droids, these have a 46mm piston and a monotube. I do want to have decent towing ability, but am not going to shell out for Bilsteins. The original tires might have cracking on the tread face, circumferential, follows between the treads. That will be fun. Rims are steel. God help me. I tow 1-2K semi-occasionally. Most of the time, the heaviest thing I haul is 400lbs of sand over the rear axle in Winter. No lift kit. I want to run Monroe 911502 Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber Rear and 911501 Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber Front. I have no clue is the difference between the two is no boot on the front shock? Any deeply buried painful memories with Reflexes on a 1500 Long Bed WT with the Z82/Z85 package?
  3. RPO code sticker has "Z85" and "Z82", so I'd say it is stock. My dad bought it used from a dealership in 2015. G80 diff and GU5 axle, 3.23 An "ideal" Class 5 hitch has over 10K lbs, and 1,200 lbs tongue, so this misses the 1,200 tongue weight Class 5 "ideal" rating by 900 lbs. But it isn't tiny... My searches showed ONE picture by a repair shop showing a damaged 15824090 from an older vehicle with a newer, similar, but heavier constructed, hitch. One important point, any hitch, no matter what Class, should be inspected [at least] annually for severe rust damage. I saw "V-5 Talon" file name on Google, manufacturer unknown.
  4. Trailer Hitch for 10,500 lb Max Load and 1100 lb Tongue Weight - GM (15824090) part of Z82 TRAILERING PACKAGE (SPECIAL) (REESE TYPE HITCH) Was this OEM'd for GM?
  5. I was unable to contort myself to look on top of the axle for any codes. From looking at the stuff on the internet, I thought it would be an 8.5 , but I most certainly lack any experience in the axle and diff combinations.
  6. Had to get my plates renewed at local DMV... So I had to open up my Silverado anyways. Crawled under rear, could not see stamped numbers or tags. It is a ten bolt, for whatever good that does... No front axle, not really needed on a 2WD [CPT Obvious]
  7. Got some pics of my RPO codes, got a GU5 3.23 and G80. Fine. So is there a chart of axle models to RPOs? It rained last night, so I'm not crawling under my land yacht to get the tags or stamped codes just right now... Who made the axles? My L20 4.8L runs sweet, but my WT has the tow package. Struggles to hit 20mpg, and that hurts when gas is $3.50+ a gallon. BIG fuel tank.
  8. A few sites had disclaimers about GM Parts possibly taking longer to become available. "Cheaped Out" and picked up some Rain-X Latitude 22 Inch Wiper Blade 5079279-1 on sale over at O’Reilly Auto Parts For those in the know, my 2013 Silverado 1500 WT uses the " I&L Arm" [Pinch Tab]. I&L Installation video by Rain-X.
  9. Lord above, my current blades on my 2013 Silverado 1500 WT are crusty and the passenger wiper is tearing loose at the bottom. Time for new blades. It seems that the good old days are just that, not seeing any wiper blade refills. You gotta buy the holder w/blade in it. Ow. Anyways, the current P/N is 25877402, I can find them for $23-ish, but one site is $17, and I'm leery of the low-price leader. Local GM stealerships want me to send in a parts request or order on-line. It would be nice if they just let you search the P/N and reply with a price... That is so 2000-ish... Anyways, I got it under control... For those of you in the know, what is the "1st Design" and the "2nd Design"? I'm sure both will fit on the wiper arm without an issue, so why the change? Whatever.
  10. About 6 months ago, I noticed some puddled gas below my 1500. Turned out that the rodents had chewed through some gas lines above the fuel tank. Of course, I try to keep my gas tank over half full... I do have deep seated jealousy of everyone with a concrete pad and tools... Moral of the story, leaving your truck parked for six months can encourage rodents to chew on things... Labor was pricey, full tank and all. Parts were cheap. I drive my truck weekly now...

  11. My 2013 Silverado 1500 2WD 4.8L W/T (bought w/43K) has @52K on it, and it is my towing vehicle. Normally it sits for weeks or months... 17MPG does that... Anyways, this spring it started to intermittently squeal. All you have to do is press on the brake pedal, ever so slightly, and the squeal disappears. When you let off the brake pedal, the squeal returns a few seconds later. I took it to a local shop a few weeks ago, and the mechanic said my rear brakes looked new, the front should last another 50k. Blew the spider nests and debris out of my calipers and re-installed everything. Now the squealing is back. Not grinding, pedal is firm, no pulsing. It gets loud. From reading the posts on this forum, it seems either / or pin lubrication, caliper lubrication, or pad composition is a/the problem. What should I tell the mechanic to do / check?
  12. A few years ago, I bought two sizes of the Frostguard windshield covers, one for a Nissan Rogue and the other for my 2013 Silverado. It turns out the XL size listed for the Silverado just fit my Rogue, and the XL was NOT big enough to cover the Silverado windshield. The cowl is totally uncovered. Does anyone make a windshield cover that covers the windshield -AND- the windshield cowl? The Silverado is BIG, and you can't get to clearing out the wiper cowl in the center third...
