  1. As a few of us were traveling, someone noticed a hose hanging down under my 2016HC. Stopping to check it out, there was no fluid dripping and not smell inside it. This is near rear differential just forward of the rear wheel. I just tied it up underneath so it wouldn’t interfere with the drive shaft spider to the diff. I lowered it again for this pic. Hose is like 1/4”. There was no performance issue for the rest (150mi). Anyone have an idea what this is? Tough to take pics underneath.
  2. I got my 2016 HC in 2019 with 35K miles. I was finally convinced by a trusted friend master mechanic to install a catch can with baffles, which I did. I empty it regularly, every 1000 miles in warm, 500 in winter to keep ice/condensation to a min. Truck now has 80K miles I did the valve clean procedure with Lucas GDI Valve cleaner spray. Disconnected the intake and shot the spray in past the MAF (which I disconnected also) Son kept the RPMs at 2K, shot spurts in for about 8 minutes til can empty. Never stalled or sputtered, heard slight increase in RPM with every squirt. Let it sit for 20 minutes per the directions, then put it all back together and drove. Didnt see a single puff of blue smoke. Had to reset the CEL, probably lit due to the disconnected MAF? Truck actually was running smoothly and still is, but was convinced to do the simple procedure for this GDI engine. Hope that indicates the catch can is doing it's job keeping crud off the valves.
  3. 2016 Silverado HC with sliding center panel on the back window. Having this replaced by Safelite, recommended by my local Chevy dealer who doesnt do glass work, Highly recommended from their past experience. Defroster failed and dealer says unit must be replaced. Questions is where is the connector for the sliding panel and defroster? I cannot seem to find how to fold down rear seat backs if it’s hidden there. Any info on how/where the electrical connectors might be?
  4. 2016 HC with sliding center section. Are these windows safety glass? If hit by a stray rock, would the glass spider-web or would there be shards all over the rear seats?
  5. Jim, thanks. Are you sure this wire runs through center console? I did have to repair the wire in there once for the wireless charging pad. Would you happen to know any other info like the color? I do not have a Service Manual. I greatly appreciate the info
  6. Thanks for this, I do have that RPO code A48 and have not had this done. I will look into this. Bob
  7. I have a 2016 HC with the sliding rear center window. The rear defogger (wires in the window) appear to be inoperative. The small light on the switch comes on when I push it and the fuse (#10 in the cluster under the hood) is intact. Any suggestions on further troubleshooting? Thanks,
  8. Had a smell of gas fumes recently, took to my trusted dealer. They dropped the tank and the fumes were coming from this rusted connector with several sensors attached. This is on the TOP of the tank. Replaced rusted shield and several other components. Total $3600 including 7hrs labor. Very disappointed in 2016 Silverado with only 74K miles.
  9. No, Onstar reporting was excellent.
  10. 2016HC 5.3. Installed Range AFM Disabler last week, seems to be working as truck stays in V8 Mode. However, I am getting diagnostic reports from the My Chevrolet app now for Engine & transmission, Antilock Brakes, Stabilitrak, Airbag system, and Emission system. There is no Check Engine light. As a Constable, when I am serving a summons, I install the Speed Turtle plug and never had a problem (also an ODB port dongle). Any thoughts? A random spur by the Range? Bob
  11. Just FYI, I also bought these FOBs and the programmer worked 100% https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FSNX41P?psc=1
  12. I have no relationship with this vendor. I ordered this replacement FOB for my 2016 HC. Amazingly simple, really under 5 minutes. New FOB works perfectly including the OEM remote start. No effect on my other FOB. Plug the programmer into OBD port and done in about 15 seconds. The packaging says good up to 2015, but replies on Amazon indicated it works for later years, I guess they never updated the packaging. $74 for new fob and programmer. Was so amazed, had to post it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078XJWCH7?psc=1
  13. Every few months I get a check engine light. OBD reader shows P0700 #07E8. I notice nothing or feel nothing. I have the 8L90 transmission. In a few days the light goes out. Because its a pain to leave truck at dealer for days, I have just been ignoring and continuing on. Any suggestions? 2016 HC. Again, continues to run fine, never had a noticeable problem. Bob
  14. No, runs strong though. I understand what a compression check is, but I dont know how to do it. I assume you need to access the practically inaccessible spark plugs.
  15. Without going to the dealer, I am having some problems finding where to order these letters. I lost the “A” and it bothers me to have a Silver do. Any pointers on where to buy these OEM letters so I can just double side tape the A back? Thanks!
  16. What is the purpose of calibration?
  17. Wicked expensive! How much additional were the lug nuts, TPMS etc…. Did you just bring new tires for them to install on the wheels? What did they hit you for calibration etc…?
  18. I decided that I want to replace my factory chrome rims with black rims of some sort. While researching, I see we need to know the offset, something I never considered. I cant seem to locate what the OEM rims are and order close to the same. Anyone know what that spec is, and maybe a recommendation of some high quality aftermarket rims? Thanks, Bob
  19. Finally someone answered the OP’s (me) actual question!
  20. Well this whole thread is pissing me off. After all the raving about catch cans, and now seeing 1/2 oz of oil in there that would have been directly injected past my valves, everyone seems to be ranting AGAINST their use. WTF is going on? Is it not beneficial to stop this blowby oil from gunking up the intake valves? Bob
  21. In MA, they dont even open hood, all done by OBD, lights check, ball joint check, tire check, wipers check. They might open hood if they suspect after market HIDs or something unusual. Not sure if CC is illegal or not.
  22. Just to verify, I’m not a mechanic. If you plug the intake port (I assume where the catch can output goes) do you also plug the PCV port? What happens to the blow by oil particles that would have ended up in the catch can? Will the truck pass emissions and/or throw codes?
  23. Broke down and installed a JLT catch can in 2016 HC with 60K miles. After 1,000 miles, mostly 60mph+ I had one half ounce (.5 oz) in the can. Is this what should be expected or better or worse? Also, despite some other posts and You Tube vids, I hear no hiss or other noise at all. Phone is close to engine, so engine sounds much louder than it really is! I added the small muffler clamps, just makes me feel better. I wish they were quick connects for ease of cleaning though.
  24. I’d like to install wheel well guards on my ‘16, had other trucks rust there due to stone chips. Any recommendations from the group? To be clear, the protectors on the outside around the fender wheel well and tire (if my terminology is wrong…) Bob
