  1. Hey guys, i have a 2005 gmc yukon with electric fans. It is the 5.3 and the electric fans will not turn on. I have replaced the coolant temp sensor and the relays and it is still inop. If i send 12v to the fans they will turn on and constant power is getting too the two 4 prong relays my tools will not fit to test the 5 prong. None of the fueses are blown either and relays have resistance to them. It has a slight hickup on startup but not much of one and sadly no they do not work with the ac on the temp will go straight past 210 when parked
  2. Hey guys, i posted a while back about this problem and did everything i was asked to see if i could fix it. Im not in a much better place with way more tools and a lift so hopefully i can finally fix it. I have a 2005 gmc yukon slt with 4wd. It is having a weird problem where it gets stuck in 4 wheel high. The only time it can get out of it is the second i start the car it will change when pressed but about 15-20 min later it will go back into 4 high. It has even tire wear (all about 10/32nds) it does have the "service 4 wheel drive " message and an abs light but no scan tool i have used has given me a conclusive answer. Do any of you have ideas on what it could be or a quick way to keep it in 2wd? Im scared taking the front drive shaft out could just cause problems.

  5. Thanks to everyone for all the advise and help. I honestly didnt expect this many people to respond and give help but im glad i came on here
  6. They are not different sizes. They are the same tire just different wear because the fronts got a flat so i replaced them.
  7. No i have not i will after the new year i have been pretty busy with other things but i will let you know what happens when i do
  8. The different size tires have not caused any noticeable problems in the rear. When it spins them tc wont stop it and keeps letting it spin.
  9. There is fluid in the transfer case but i do not know the last time it was changed. My mother drove it since it came off the lot and has a terrible memory. It was daily driven befor i bought it off her. When i get a chance i will change the fluid it looks fine though and when driving i do not hear noise comming from it. Heres a picture of the tread in the rear just so yall know it isnt bald (rear fronts are new)
  10. I can tell you its not driver error im light on the gas when i turn if i even hit the gas. I can try cleaning the selector or even just disconecting the driveshaft from the transfer case but i dont know if that will damage the transfer case. I do own a lot of tools since i am a mechanic on the side so im not opposed to actually digging into the thing its just parts prices
  11. Like i said i will go get the tires checked they have tred on them and the fronts are at most 2 months old. Im 18 and work a minimum wage job so its rent or tires. Im not going to just buy tires if its not that i will get it checked out though
  12. It will shift out of 4wd but once i start driving it will shift back into 4wd i will go get the tires checked im thinking that might be the problem the suv is just a winter beater so i dont want to put much money into it the whole frame is rusted
  13. Hey, my 2005 gmc yukon has some odd problems. The suv currently has 215k+ miles on it. The worst of the problems is with the 4wd it wont go into 2wd and automatically locks into 4 wheel high. This doesnt bother me to much but it also says service 4wd on the dash and im unable to find the problem. It likes to lose traction in any damp condition and it has fairly new tires in the front and good ones in the back. It will spin tires out of a light and sometimes while turning. Im not flooring it eather i almost totaled the suv when driving the other day because it broke completely sideways on a busy road the other day with no puddles but it had rained for a couple hours. Thankfully i saved it but the cop thought it was on purpose. It does have about 200 pounds of car parts in the rear and blown shocks all around
