I really broke a sweat today lol
I'm body color matching a new bumper cap, also spraying the black ABS mirrors, tailgate, inside the beds floor and walls (scratches). I'm getting away from all the black exterior ABS plastics, it's a pain dessing these parts after each wash plus it will look much better.
With ABS you do not need to use adhesion promotor, just an epoxy primer works best. The new (aftermarket) bumper cap dosen't have any markings telling what type of plastic it is. The float test is a simple test to see if adhesion promotor is necessary. I snipped a small piece of plastic from under the new smooth bumper cap and placed it in a small cup of water to see if it sinks or floats. I was hoping for a sinker to save a few dollars but... was not to be lol. After I pick up the clear (SPI), AP and Epoxy primer this project is go!
"If It Floats You Must Promote"
The BASF Limco Supreme lid when I sprayed the bed in 06 looks like a perfect match
