  1. Destroyed a G80 3.42 differential. It literally locked up at about 45mph skid hopping to a stop. No warning, except a loud howl and a loud metal to metal bang as I let off gas coming to a round about. Driveshaft and snapped yoke laying on road. Ride: 2015 Silverado 1500 LTZ CREW.4WD. 35s. 6”. GM dealer wants 7K to fix. WTF?!! Plan: Find used complete rear axle and swap. Question: Can I put swap the destroyed 3.42 for 3.73? Will I need to change the front diff also? Should I go back to G80? I keep reading they are junk…..?? FYI: Just a shade tree mech here. Don’t know everything. Any advice appreciated.
  2. Does anyone know if I can swap my 2015 1500 LTZ rear axle for a 2019 rear axle? My RPO codes are GU6 and G80. 3.42 ratio. If the codes are the same, will everything else line up?
  3. 2015 Silverado LTZ. 6” lift. 130,000 Just started doing this: Sharp left turn, Stabiltrak/ABS/ and brake light comes on. Loss of power steering. Shut truck off, restart and it’s fine. Normal driving: Stabiltrak light flash on then off. Temp loss of 12v. Radio and Info display erased set back to default. Whats going on?
  4. I bought a 2015 Silverado 1500 LTZ with 6" ProComp lift. It is time for lower ball joint replacement. My problem is, I have aluminum control arms and steel knuckles. I called Moog and they do not have a specific ball joint for aluminium/steel combo. The Moog K500245 is for alum/alum, but will it work for alum/ steel? Any help appreciated.
  5. I just bought a used 2015 Silverado 1500 LTZ with 6" lift, 35/12.50/20s. Crosswind ATs( not my choice) I have vibration at 60+ mph on certain road surfaces. No cupping or abnormal wear. Steering does not pull to either side. Concrete turnpike by far the worst. But vibration seems to go away on certain asphalt surfaces. First tire shop inspection said all control arms and tie rods are "shot". Second opinion tire shop said control arms are a little worn but crap tires are the problem. "Worst tire ever" he said. His opinion: Rotate and balance, (temporary fix) then tires. Then control arms. Does this sound right? On a budget so I cant do both at once. I dont know alot about control arms. Which one (brand and stock #)do you suggest for my lift. They all look the same to me. Any advice appreciated, thanks.
