Looking to replace my old (Ford) beater truck with something relatively cheap but capable of doing some occasional towing on flat ground.
Local dealer has a 2013 Silverado for $11k
200k miles
5.3L flex-fuel engine, 6 speed auto trans
Does not have NHT package but does have 3.42 axle, heavy duty oil cooler, aux trans cooler, and brake controller
Was originally purchased from the same Michigan dealer that I'm looking at buying it from, and Carfax shows it maintained there.
The engine sounded remarkably good given the miles. There was some slight transmission-feeling-weirdness at 25mph if accelerating very lightly. Hard acceleration up to highway speeds was just fine.
It's not going to be a daily driver, so if I need to replace the transmission, I can take a week to do so after work.
I've been a Ford owner for a long while so I'm less familiar with what GM setups are reliable and which to avoid - although given that a 5.3 is still in production, I'm assuming that at its core a solid platform.
