I`m gonna try some of this in my 2000 LM7 that has had the famous piston slap since 17,000 miles or so. I have used Mopar combustion chamber cleaner down the spark plug holes a few times in the past. Corrects the problem for a few months or so. Then returns. GM top engine cleaner has been used also. No good results from this. This LM7 never used oil. Even running the piss out of it. Course, I`m gonna use this in my 2025 L84 while it`s still clean. It`s got 13,000 miles. Used Chevron fuel system cleaner [2 bottles in tank] a tank or 2 ago.

I wonder how much carbon is on all those high mileage valves?

I know of 2 5.3L engines with AFM that run great. One now has 176,000 miles and the other has 235,000. Never opened up. Sound quiet. They have the same lifters with the pins as we do now. The 176,000 mile is my brother`s 2007 Avalanche and the other is a coworker`s 2010 Tahoe. I`m not going to say that these systems are as reliable as before cyl deac, cause they`re not. BUT, these engines came before the 0w20 "mandate". Hmm. Something to think about? Pins have better separation from the body and move better? Not all lifters that fail are deac lifters. Hmm. Rollers and needle bearings with better separation? Just thinking out loud.

Don`t have any pics of my `77 Cutlass Supreme that I sold to get my 2000 Silverado 1500. Was a nice car. Maybe because it was mine.

My bad. Forgot the 4.6 came out in `91 in the Town Car, and `92 for the Crown and Merc.

I used to work on those 4.6, 2V engines. They are tough.

I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem. What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. Just put it in gear. Setting parameters? Don`t know if it`s possible.
