Our 2nd row dvd screen is black on our 2015 Suburban. I’ve read all the other threads about this and bought and installed a new 40-pin ribbon cable, which made no difference. Then I disassembled both 2nd and 3rd row and swapped the LG display panels. The 3rd row remained working and the 2nd row remained broken, which means both LG panels work fine. I could not swap the entire units because the second row has black connectors and the third row has gray connectors, which are not interchangeable. I checked all the voltages and resistance of the second and third row large wiring harnesses and they tested identical. So, I know there are three possibilities:
1). The new ribbon cable is bad (unlikely)
2). The electronics on the circuit boards of the middle unit are bad (possible)
3). The video connector hooking the wire to the dvd unit is bad or dead (possible)
I would like to find a way to test the video connector, but I’m not sure what kind of connector it is. What kind of connection is it? I’m thinking to buy an extension cord for that type of connector, female on one end and male on the other, then hook up the third row video harness to the second row dvd screen unit.
Anyone have ideas?
Thank you.
