Truck has 58k miles on it with the 6 speed auto, I've had it since around 35k. For some time I have been having what I would swear is transmission shifting trouble. Hesitation shifting/bogging particularly when first heading out (cold)...if I hold the accelerator where it is while it's doing it or back off for a bit long enough, it will then "release" and shift ok... if I slowly and continuously press the accelerator more and more it will suddenly downshift + slam into gear, unsettling for me and for passengers and very noticeably "wrong". Usually accelerating *hard* from a stop it is fine, usually a problem at light to moderate acceleration. I know these trans 'learn' and perhaps mine needs to be unlearned.
I have been waiting/hoping for a CEL TBH...as I have an extended warranty (service contract) through at least March of 2021, and I don't expect much diagnostic help from the dealer without it. On Sunday I got a blinking CEL (which I know means misfire) so immediately pulled over and shut it off. Started it back up and it hasn't done that since. I took it to the dealer with these symptoms. The service advisor claims only code initially pulled showed P0300 (random misfire) but the tech said they could see that cylinder 7 had misfired (k...how was that not showing a P0307 instead???). Their suggestion was plugs and wires since it was "random" misfire...at 58k??? So for now...I'm going to play ball, and pay the ridiculous price for them to do the plugs and wires (yeah I would normally just do this myself)...because I need to go out of town this weekend and I want it on record. I'm also getting my plugs and wires back which I asked to be labeled with the cylinder numbers.
My real concern here is it is something much worse (AFM lifter on 7) or even with separate trans problems....and it won't break "enough" before the service contract runs out... Any thoughts or suggestions?
