So I decided not to go with this trailer after seeing the underside last night. We can disregard this post now and I didnt realize there was an HD section.
Also, I think dieselfan is correct with more truck for that size trailer. The pin weight on a gooseneck is usually 25-30% of the overall weight as far as what I've seen people say. Without looking it up I believe the payload is 3k lbs for my truck.
Just wondering if anyone out there tows with a gooseneck trailer (horse or not) close to their max towing capacity?
I have a 2015 Silverado 2500hd crew cab 4wd gas and was looking to upgrade my 4 horse gooseneck trailer to a 4 horse with living quarters. The new trailer weighs 8500lbs empty as I am told so I assume it is all aluminum. With 4 horses and supplies, I am thinking I'd be around 14200 fully loaded. The manual shows my truck with a max towing capacity at 14800lbs for the fifth wheel/gooseneck. We do tow in the hills quite a bit as well.
