  1. I bought my new truck from a Bellevue, WA dealership this past February and brought it home to SE Alaska. 2023 GMC K3500 Denali Black Diamond Edition. Expensive ferry ride on the Alaska Marine Highway System ferry out of Bellingham, WA ($4,000 round trip). Check engine light came on almost immediately, stayed on for about a week and then went off. No apparent reason. After about six weeks the entire passenger side headlight assembly stopped working. Then the backup camera started malfunctioning. Then the upper tailgate (step) switch started getting glitchy. No dealership anywhere close so I tried working with the GM Customer Assistance Group via text, phone and email to get authorization for a local repair shop to do the repairs under warranty. After about a month of getting nowhere I booked a second expensive and time consuming trip to Washington. My dealership replaced the headlight assembly, the backup camera and the upper tailgate switch. The headlight assembly is still working but now my entire camera system is inoperable and the upper tailgate gate won’t open. I’m starting to wonder if the electrical systems on these trucks are defective. Anyone else having these issues? FYI…everyone I have dealt with in the GM system has been really nice and helpful but I still have no cameras and an inoperable upper tailgate. Not happy and this might be my last GM truck.
