This is probably a dumb question answered a hundred times already but I have a 2024 2500 Silverado. 4x4, diesel, crew cab, long box.
It has a gvwr of only 10k on it, with a payload the sticker says to never exceed 1838lbs. Problem is we routinely haul a fair bit over 1838, probably closer to 3000lbs once you figure the guys in the cab etc. The truck handles it fine and most information I can find list payload for these trucks near 3400lbs except for this odd ball with derated sticker.
We are a business, we have cdl's, keep logs and all that. So the question comes up even if we're doing everything by the book let's say you get into a accident. Are we in trouble because the truck is only stickered for 1838lbs of payload or can we go over the GVWR because we're cdl drivers?
