  1. Turns out I had a bad Low Roller Clutch. The accordion springs broke. All. of. them.
  2. Automatic Put it in nuetral, pulled it to 1st. Put it back in D.
  3. Hi All - I have a 2006/07 Silverado (GMT-800), 150K miles. It has pooped out of gear twice in the past month or so. Once was on a really rough dirt road, so I didn't think much of it. I was going pretty slow and it was in '3' The last time was on a smooth road, and happened as I was slowing down. It was in 'D'. Both times it made a grinding noise. until whatever was spinning stopped. I have a scan gauge - there aren't any codes. It also happened one other time about 3 years ago. Transmission fluid and filter were changed at 50K and 125K. Fluid looks and smells fine. It's never overheated either. I've had it since it was new. Any ideas - just a linkage problem? It shifts fine. No other problems. V
  4. I had a 1983 Toyota 4WD up to 265,000 miles. I had to rebuild the standard transmission at 140,000 and the bearings were going out again. Other than that, just occasional oil leaks from a seal going bad hear and there. I was always having oil seals going out. Getting a vehicle over 300,000 miles is pretty impressive. Good job.
  5. 1. No, I'm not confusing the fan switch and the thermostat. I just wasn't sure what the thermstat was set to open at. 2. I don't think 200 is too hot for a trans myself. 3. My point is that the trans and engine are not necessarily the same temperature when the radiator is the only trans cooler you have. 4. Is the DIC inaccurate? Why? 5. Of course I'm comparing temps at two different locations. One is the engine temp, one is the trans temp. They are definitely different locations.
  6. That's not true. I don't have an external cooler. Driving down the highway, my trans runs about 80 to 90 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. 100 degree day, my trans is at 185. The engine may be at 210 degrees, but the coolant in the radiator isn't that hot unless the engine is really working. Your thermostat will start to open at 210 degrees, not be wide open at that temp. I monitor my tranny temps with a scanguage II.
  7. My truck just started doing the same damn thing. Low speed, coming to a stop, and the whole truck vibrates when the antilocks kick in. Our of warranty too. Nice.
