Yours is easier. You can get to the camera signals on one of the connectors to your Nav unit. How you do it is up to you. This comes from documentation for the PAC OS4 and is the wire side view of an adaptor that plugs into/onto the brown connector after is pulled from the Nav HU.

I know all the guys @ PAC, I've beta tested multiple units for them over the years, from GM to Chrysler to Toyota... I'll give Sam over at PAC a call and see if he can make me an inline connector to intercept and re-route the signal (maintaining an OEM connection without cutting wires).
Did you have any luck? I have a 2009 Sierra Denali with factory Nav & backup camera and i want to add a rear view mirror which shows the camera feed all the time, and still keep the camera turning on on the Nav unit when in reverse. Let me know if you had any luck...
