Nothing is more frustrating than climbing into your rig, hitting the ignition, and getting a whole lot of nothing.

If your truck is throwing a Service Engine Soon (SES) light with a “Crank No Start” condition, and your code reader is pulling a DTC P062B from the Engine Control Module (ECM), you are definitely not alone. General Motors has just updated a preliminary information bulletin (PIT6110J) in March 2026 that directly addresses this annoying glitch.

Here is the breakdown of what is happening, what models are affected, and whether you can fix this in your driveway or if you need to hand the keys over to the service department.

The Affected GM Lineup

This bulletin covers a massive chunk of GM’s V8-powered fleet from the 2023 through 2026 model years, specifically targeting vehicles equipped with the 5.3L (L84), the 6.2L (L87), and the heavy-duty 6.6L (L8T) engines.

What is causing the Crank No Start and P062B code?

The short answer: GM engineering is still investigating the root cause, but they are working on a long-term design improvement.

The interesting part of the bulletin is a small note at the bottom indicating that this DTC can sometimes be triggered by a simple low voltage condition during startup or during an auto stop/start event. So, a battery that is struggling slightly under load might be the ghost in the machine causing your truck to refuse to start.

Can I DIY this, or is it a dealer trip?

From a truck owner’s perspective, this is a mixed bag.

The official GM fix involves a few steps that a DIYer can technically try, but it ultimately requires dealer-level tools to guarantee a permanent fix. The bulletin instructs technicians to first ensure the ECM has the latest programming downloaded.

Once the software is confirmed, the technician is instructed to perform a “global reset”. This involves clearing all the DTCs, disconnecting the 12-volt battery for several minutes, and then reconnecting it.

The Driveway Workaround: If you are stranded in a parking lot with a Crank No Start, disconnecting your 12-volt battery for a few minutes to force that global reset might just clear the code and get your truck to fire up. GM notes that if the code does not come back after the reset, it was a “false” code and no further repairs are needed right now.

Why you still need the dealer: While the battery disconnect trick might get you home, if the DTC P062B code comes back immediately after the reset, GM warns that an entire ECM replacement may be necessary. Plus, you cannot verify or flash the latest ECM software updates from your driveway.

If your truck is covered under the Bumper-to-Bumper or Emissions warranty, let the dealer handle it. They have a specific labor code assigned to this bulletin to run the diagnostics and perform the reset.
