General Motors has issued Customer Satisfaction Program N262546840 to reimburse exactly 915 owners of the 2025 and 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV in the United States. The $50 reimbursement addresses an accidental charge for a back-up alarm calibration that was never provided with the vehicle.

If you recently parked a new electric Silverado in your driveway, keep an eye on your mailbox. Here is everything you need to know about the minor billing mix-up and how to claim your refund.

The Missing Back-Up Alarm Calibration

According to the official bulletin, certain Silverado EV buyers were mistakenly charged for a back-up alarm calibration. Because this feature was not actually included with their specific trucks, the automaker is authorizing dealerships to make things right.

Affected owners will receive a direct reimbursement check for a cool $50.00 USD (or $85.00 CAD for Canadian buyers).

How to Claim Your Silverado EV Reimbursement

Before you start planning how to spend your windfall, be aware that you cannot just call the dealership and ask them to drop the money in your account. General Motors requires dealers to verify three specific pieces of documentation in person before they can hand over the check:

  • The Official Notification Letter: You must bring the physical letter provided by General Motors.

  • Your Vehicle Registration: This proves you are the current owner of the affected truck.

  • Matching Identification: A driver’s license or state ID that perfectly matches the name on both the vehicle registration and the GM letter.

Note for Fleet Owners: If your electric truck happens to be registered to a company, you get to skip the driver’s license requirement and bring in proof of automobile insurance matching the registration instead.

Once the service department verifies your paperwork, they will issue you a check right on the spot. The reimbursement program remains active until April 30, 2028, so you have plenty of time to dig out your registration and claim your fifty bucks.
