dcarl hows the ride now are the bilsteins softer over small stuff like expansion joints or small holes. The ranchos to me ride good on the highway but to stiff on small town roads and small potholes. You can feel all the little rough places feels stiff.

Thanks

I would say the best way to sum up the difference between the two shocks is the Bilstein is Firm but not Harsh and do handle the small stuff better than the Rancho. To me the Rancho bounced off of everything and the Bilstein seems to soak it up in a more controlled manner.

Another example I can share is that I went from a 2001 GMC Denali XL with a very nice ride to my 2015 Sierra SLT Z71 and thought the ride was a bit rough for driving on the street. The Bilstein kind of put it at a happy medium. I'm happy with the ride for a 1/2 ton truck that has a Leveled Suspension, and A/T Tires. It was worth the $385 to upgrade the shocks.

The last time I used Rancho shocks was on a 83' GMC Jimmy that had a 4" lift with 35" tires and I had double shocks on the front and I don't think they were as stiff as the ones I took off my new truck....
