  1. Picked up the truck from the dealer today and whoa, baby! My smooth-as-butter ride is back. They were reasonably kind to me on the pricing, too. At least from the $3k starting point. On my service slip, they charged me $1000 for the shocks, but they heavily discounted the rest of the work I had them do at the same time (75k service and a few odds and ends) to make up for some of it. Let's hope I get at least another 75k miles out of this set.
  2. Is there an aftermarket option that offers as nice of a ride quality as the OEM Mag Ride shocks? That's what sold me on the Denali. I tested other models that had Z71 package and non-Z. I found the non-Z better, but the Denali was way smoother for all of the highway mileage I drive. For those that have been following, my shocks arrived at my dealer this afternoon. They hoped to finish it before they closed today, but called me to say the installation of the fronts was far more complicated than the plug-and-play installation of the rears. I'll have it back tomorrow.
  3. Sorry, I meant are there any aftermarket options to use as replacement shocks? I plan to put a couple hundred thousand miles on this truck and I'm guessing GMC won't step in to help me pay for them next time.
  4. I appreciate this suggestion and I've asked my dealer. My service rep is pleading my case to the manager.
  5. Really??? That's pretty disappointing to hear. I had no idea these shocks had such a bad rap. I guess I was naive thinking they were new tech on the 2015 Denali. Is there any better solution via aftermarket?
  6. Searched the forum back about a year and didn't see any posts on this topic. Here's my situation: 2015 Denali, 75k miles, purchased new 10/2014. Truck has been reasonably trouble free, other than an issue with the OnStar antenna in Jan. 2015. About 2 months ago, I noticed the front end was starting to feel a little bouncy and making a creaking noise on slow speed bumps and figured I'd mention it when my 75k mile service came up. Scheduled my appointment for said 75k service for a week out and 2 days later I notice the rear of my truck is not level. Looking at the back of the truck, the passenger side was lower than the driver side. A tape measure confirmed the top of tire to wheel well measurement was 3.5" lower on the passenger side. Brought it to the dealership right away because I didn't feel it was safe to drive it like that. My dealer informs me that not only the rear passenger shock, but ALL FOUR of my Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) shocks are bad and need to be replaced, at a cost of $3,000 for the set. Mind you, I've had a very good relationship with this dealer, so it didn't take much effort to get them to attempt to warranty this for me. They said GMC would cover them via a pro-rated warranty where they pay $2k and I pay $1k. I'm not happy, but I need my truck back so I gave the dealer the go-ahead. Two days later, my dealer tells me the shocks are out of stock and none are available from any other GMC dealers anywhere in the US. There is no date on the backorder from GMC, either. Why would all 4 of my expensive shocks fail on my expensive truck within 75k miles and none are available anywhere within the GMC USA network? Well, I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but it leads me to believe there's a problem with these shocks and GM has burned through their inventory replacing them. Further, my 75k miles is almost all highway miles. About the only "off road" adventures it has seen is when I inadvertently drive over my lawn. Certainly nothing like the great off-road driving clips in GMC Truck ads. Anyone aware of any similar issues? Thanks in advance.
  7. My 2015 Sierra Denali got stuck in Auto 4WD this past weekend. At some point, it shifted itself back to 2WD and remained there until I brought it to the dealer today. The service form says "Corrected by Transfer Case Shift Control Module; Reprogramming with SPS; Checked for TCCM DTC S CO393 and CO38D; Found PIP5220B to reprogram TCCM; Reprogrammed TCCM and setup" Since picking it up from the dealer, I've started, driven, parked 3 times, all leaving it in Auto mode since there's snow on the roads here. So far (knock wood...) it's been fine.
  8. Mine's a 2015 and it worked. PM your contact info to me and I'll send the diode in the mail this week.
  9. Thanks to Spurshot and others who have provided guidance here. I just completed the #10 to #22 diode mod so my fog lights will be on any time my headlights come on and they stay on with high beams. This took about 5 minutes to do and about half of that time was taken to be extra careful not to bend/break the diode. The only thing I noticed is the indicator light in the DIC does not light up, even though my fogs are lit. If I push the button, the indicator light comes on, but the fogs are already on and don't change. Push it again, the indicator light goes out, but fogs remain lit. As such, the indicator light must be tied to the switch and not to the fog lights themselves. I can certainly live with that, as I found it quite annoying that the fogs could not be set in a manner to default to ON when the lights are on. I also manually tested the parking light position on the switch and the fogs lit on with those alone (not requiring headlights), too. If anyone is looking to do this mod, PM me, as I have an extra diode from Radio Shack from the 2-pack.
  10. My garage floor is approximately 42-48" above the grade of the street. I will try the new battery in the remote. The one in there is not very old, and it worked fine programming the wife's Buick 3 weeks before programming my truck, but it's a cheap fix. I'll also try programming a different button. Won't be able to get to it until next weekend, but I will report the results. Thanks for these tips.
  11. For some reason, my garage door opener will only work if I'm right up against the door with the truck. In my wife's Buick, which I assume uses the same setup, she can open her door from the street as she's turning into the driveway. I normally back into the garage, but I switched to driving in forward this week to see if it worked any better, to no avail. My driveway is only about 60-70' long, so it's not like it's a country mile. Every other vehicle I've owned, along with the supplied remotes for the door, will open the door from the street. Anyone else have this issue?
