It will work if you dont have the LED headlights. I know there have been wiring diagrams posted but still use a test light to find out which wire is hot with the low beam on and again for the amber light just to be sure you have the correct wires. Then swap their positions in the truck side of the connector.

Just want to add to my last post... This may be obvious, but adding a toggle switch to the thin blue wire in the HID kit (the wire that conects to the trucks low beam bulb commector) will allow you to use your fogs without your low beams. Its easy and takes about 10 mins to run a wire through the firewall into your cabin.

1. The fog lights trigger the amber lights. You are now using the amber light wire to power headlights. Unfortunately, you can not use fogs without low beams unless you buy a special harness online, not sure where. You will have to undo the pin swap mod.2. This is a sacrifice you make for the pin swap, low beams come on when started remotely. I tapped into the trigger wire in the HID kit and put a toggle switch on my dash. As long as I leave the switch off. headlights stay off when i remote start. If it's dark flip the switch before you drive.

Start over.Which year and model is your truck? Did you swap the correct wires on the "truck side" of the headlight connector? Did you do the same thing on both driver and pssenger side? Sounds like you may have messed up the driver side since the low beam is staying on in daylight in the auto position. Check your work, sometimes its better to put everything back to stock and start over.

Yes, swap the pins inside the connector on the truck side. You don't need to touch the other side of the connector attached to the headlight.

No. Check out posts on page 6 (Aug 30th 2014 8:19pm) and page 7 (11:13pm) from "flyin99" he posts pics of the main headlight connector with slots A through H and then a list with lables for each slot. But your truck could be different so use a test light to confirm. Then swap the low beam wire and amber wire in the connector.

Interesting. I've never seen those. Seems like you can do the same pin swap mod I've posted for the 2015 silverados. The detailed instructions are somewhere in the last few pages but basically you need to unplug the connector behind your headlight and switch the wires around inside the connector so that the wire powering the ambers will now power the low beam and the wire powering the low beam will now power the ambers. I'm not sure if your truck has the same wire locations as the Silverado. Unplug the driver side connector to put a test light on the pins, look the passenger side headlight to know when just the amber is on and when just the low beam is on, find out which wire does what

If you have a 2015 sierra the LEDs are the DRLs, not low beams. If you wish to have the ambers on during the day as well simply turn your light knob one click to the right. The low beam will only turn on if you turn the light knob two clicks to the right, or if the dash sensor sences darkness. If you wish to have ambers only during the day and no LEDs just swap the pins in the connector for the ambers and the LEDs. Now the LEDs will only turn on with night lights (or one click right on the light knob) and the ambers will be on all the time without having to turn the light knob. You can also make the LEDs your turn signals by powering them with the turn signal supply instead of the ambers supply (your LED would be a blinker only and no longer a running light).

Keep in mind, this will not disable your drl, this will disable your auto night lights feature. If you have a U.S truck, this will allow you to turn your low beams off while driving at night. For 2014 - 2015 Canadian trucks this mod is pretty pointless, unless you have already done the pin swap mod or some other mod to disable the drl. Unplug the photocell but leave it installed in the dash, push the two pins of the resistor into two of the slots on the connector. There are actually three slots/wires in the connector so there are three combinations you need to try. Put your truck in drive, put the parking brake on, with the lights on "auto" your low beam and parking lamp should be on. You need to see which one of the three combinations turns off the parking lamps (because they're off in day mode). If you have already disabled your drl's then the parking lamps and low beams will turn off. Put tape around the connector and resistor so it doesnt fall out, tuck it into the dash and you're done.

I think all of us would love to pull the drl pin but unfortunately its also the low beam wire. If I turn my switch to the parking lamp position while driving in daylight it would turn my low beam on because the prking lamps are already on since they are being supplied by drl/low beam wire.

A 1000 ohm resistor works to trick the light sensor. Only problem is your truck thinks its always daylight so your interior dash lights and radio/nav screen with stay bright as f*** (day mode) all night with no dim ability. Also, the green backlighting around the hvac controls does not come on in daytime mode.

Keep in mind, this is only for 2014 and 2015 silverados. This is so the low beams are off during the day and the orange lights are on, in the "Auto" position. The auto night lights will still function normally. When you look into the headlight connector (truck side) you will see 8 slots inside arranged like so. DCBA ............HGFE four on the top and four on the bottom. Slots D, H and G are blanks on my truck meaning there are no wires going to thos slots. You will be swapping the B wire and the E wire. The pins slide in and out of the connector you just need to take off the grey cover then use a pointy tool. No cutting or splicing wires or adding relays or more wires. If you take your truck to a dealership there is no way for them to tell that any changes or modifications have been made.

I did not cut any wires, I just found the main headlight assembly connector and I removed the low beam supply wire and the prking lamp supply wire and swapped their locations in the conncetor. I forget which pins they are but you will find the answer in another post I made on previous pages. I would still use a test light so you can be 100% sure.

But you have a Sierra. Your DRL is the LED strip. Thats not that bad. My Silverado uses the low beams for DRL so I had to change that. If you dont want the LED on during the day just wire them to the upper LED which is only on at night, or you could use the parking lamp wire or the headlight wire. You could also tie into your blinker signal so your LED flashes with with turn signals.

You must have a Canadian truck. On US trucks the lights can be turned off while in drive. Im in Canada as well, I swapped the low beam wire with the parking lamp wire so the orange lights are on in daylight and the low beams still turn on automatically when it gets dark.

But you still can not control your LED strip (DRL) correct? They are always on?

so you didnt want the auto night lights. so you must turn your low beam on maunaly when it gets dark?

When you say "in P" i assume you mean the light switch is on parking light (one click to the right). In this setting, while driving, both conditions are being met (power from parking lamps and power from oem low beam wire) so how would you drive with only parking lamp?Lets step back and talk about the stock oem functionality. Because i think we have different situations. In USA silverados, when you shift into drive the low beams come on right. so here is my questions, can you be driving along (in daylight) and turn your low beams off with your light switch? and can you choose to run parking lights only while driving? because In Canada we dont have that option. We can not turn our low beams off unless we are in park. The light switch will not turn off low beams while in gear. so there is no way for us to run prkining lights only unless we do the pin swap.

You may have missed something. I thought of the pin swap method specifically so i could run the orange parking lights only. If you watch Baking83's video a few pages back he says "the only downfall about the relay method is that you CAN NOT run parking lights only" because the relay is wired so that the the low beam only gets power when you send power to the parking lights. Therefor, no low beam DRL. Which works perfect if you prefer no lights on at all during the daytime. The pin swap method will trigger *parking lights only* when you shift into drive and your light switch is left on "auto".

Correct... its very simple, just need some very fine point tools to get the pins out of the connector. Start by removing the 2 grey peices. there is one on the front and back of connector.

Just unplug the right or left harness and use a test light to see what pin is hot when low beam is on. and then what pin is hot with parking lamp on. diagrams were posted a few pages back so you can see which pins are which (ABCDEFGH) D,G and H are blanks. if you dont have a test light, im pretty confident that B is low beam and E is parking lamp. If you cant find the diagrams... when looking straight in the connector there is an upper and lower row or pins, 4 slots per row. upper right corner is A moving left to D. lower right corner is E moving left to H

I just switched the locations of low beam supply (pin B) with the park lamp supply (pin E) in the connector. No cutting or splicing wires. No relays. No modification. Can easily go back to stock. Now only the orange parking lights come on during the day when in gear, and it looks sweet. The low beams will come on when I turn the light switch, or when the auto nightlights are tiggered by darkness. This is only confirmed for Silverado because I think the Sierra uses the LEDs for DRL not low beams.

On a bright and sunny day, it looks dumb to have your low beams on, also, the bulbs will burn out a lot faster. However, LED's or Ambers (orange parking lights) can add a nice touch in the daylight. Say I wanted the ambers for DRLs insted of the low beams, could I just cross the power wire from each? So the ambers come on instead (when I shift out of park). so then one click right on the light knob would actually turn on the low beams (i dont care because i have no use for this setting). and then obviously 2 clicks right would be low beams and ambers together, as usual.. and the auto night lights would work the same and not be affected.
