  1. Mine went with only 2,089 miles on my truck. I only had my truck a few months.
  2. woody6725, That's what I'm afraid will happen to me. My 2016 (I bought new) had it's condenser replaced at 2,089 miles (yes, that mileage is correct). It's been in the shop 6 times now for the AC not working and I have under 6,000 miles on my truck (don't drive it much). They replaced my condenser with the same faulty 1st gen model so I expect it to fail again soon.
  3. Unfortunately, yes. It's just a matter of time before it goes. Mine went at 2,089 miles and they replaced it with the same first gen condenser so it's guaranteed to go again. My truck is a 2016 with only 5K miles on it now (I don't drive it much). It's already been to the dealer 5 times for the AC. I submitted a lemon law request to the Massachusetts AG but my request was denied because the AC is not deemed a safety issue. I basically bought a $55,000 lemon. The AC is crap, it vibrates on the highway (not a wheel balance issue), it shifts hard, etc... I will never never ever buy a GM again.
  4. The same thing happened to me on my first visit. They claimed they couldn't find the leak, put dye in and recharged. A few weeks later, no AC. After 5 visits, my AC is currently working but I'm 99.9% sure it's going to die again. I will never, never, never, buy a GM vehicle again.
  5. If this is the same exact part for our truck, how is it even legal for GM not to post a similar 'Special Coverage' for us? Mine went at 2,089 miles and they replaced it with the same crappy one last year.
  6. And it's definitely the redesigned one they put in when the first failed? Mine failed at 3,000 miles. They installed the original designed one because the re-designed wasn't released yet. This was last year.
  7. join the club
  8. $250 on a truck with115K miles on it, that's an awesome deal.
  9. Hopefully a separate one comes out for the trucks.
  10. Interesting... wonder if they will do this with us. My old Acura had a transmission flaw which they did a similar thing. Instead of doing a recall, they extended the warranty for just the transmission. My tranny went within a year of the car being new.
  11. I highly recommend complaining to your AG. This should be a recall. I don't understand how GM is getting away with this.
  12. No product bulletin number, no recall, no nothing. You have to wait until your condenser goes.
  13. Mine went at 2,089 miles (under a year old)
  14. I wish you luck. I also have a 2016 with only 3,000 miles on it. I've brought my truck down 5 times so far to get the AC fixed. On the 3rd visit, they replaced the AC condenser with another faulty designed condenser (the redesigned one wasn't available yet). On my 5th visit, another AC component failed but I logged a GM ticket anyways asking them to replace the condenser with the re-designed one. They wouldn't do it. Even though I've brought my truck down 5 times now for the AC, showing proof that I have a lemon, they still wouldn't replace the condenser. I went off on the GM guy on the phone about it. I also gave my dealer a very poor service review for my 5th visit. The dealer claimed GM wouldn't let them replace the condenser while GM told me the dealer didn't want to replace the condenser. Basically each pointing the finger at the other.
  15. 2017 models also have the faulty designed condenser depending if they were manufactured early. If you are buying a new truck, I'd find out if it has the redesigned one before buying it. You don't want to be like me and have to bring your truck in 5 times to get the AC fixed (they replaced my faulty designed one with another faulty designed one). I have to wait until my 2nd faulty designed one fails before they replace it with the 'good' one. I'm not happy about it and went off on the GM guy about it.
  16. It can go early. My condenser went under a year with only 2,089 miles on it.
  17. If you filed a ticket with GM about your AC not working and they tell you one has been ordered on behalf of your dealer, call the dealer and verify it was actually ordered. I filed a ticket with GM last month and they e-mailed me back on 7/13 with the same response everyone received saying the AC condenser is on back-order but one has been ordered for you. I literally haven't driven my truck since; waiting for the dealer to call me saying my condenser arrived. Given initial reports that it might take 2-4 months to come in, I wasn't expecting a call from my dealer anytime soon. Well I called yesterday to find out the status of my order and they said they'd have to call me back after I gave them my ticket number. I didn't ask them but I'm 99% sure my order was never put in because they sounded like one didn't exist. They called me back within an hour saying one was available for my truck. I'm partially to blame for not verifying one was ordered but still, I'm not happy with GM. My dealer has been great and I'm not trying to badmouth them. The AC problem is a GM issue and I'm not impressed at all with GM quality or customer service. This is my first and last GM vehicle I will ever purchase.
  18. Interesting..... it lists only the 2014 Silverado. Is this a different AC issue that everyone else is seeing on their 2014-2017 GM vehicle?
  19. This is what my truck has been doing for the past month. I refuse to drive it with no AC. It will be sitting like this for probably another 2-3 months until the re-designed AC condenser comes in. By then it'll be fall so I won't care about AC.
  20. Knightfall, You are going to hit the issue, it might be in a few days, weeks, or a few years from now. My 2016 hit it less than a year with about 1000 miles on it. The good thing for you is you have time until your warranty expires. GM MUST issue a recall. If they don't, the AGs of multiple states will force them to issue one.
  21. I'm in the same boat with the faulty AC condenser. After 4 attempts to fix it at my dealer, I finally called GM to complain and they gave me the same BS answer of no ETA on the re-designed condenser. I'm sick of this being the 5th time getting fixed (and that's if it really gets fixed this time). This is my first new American vehicle purchase and I can say with confidence I will never buy American again. I know that might piss some off but I've owned Nissan, Honda, Suzuki, and Toyota and have never had a major issue with any of them. With a $50K+ purchase (more than any new vehicle I've ever bought), I expect it to work. I went to CarMax yesterday to see what they'd give me for my 2016 SLT Crew Cab with only 2,800 miles on it (mint condition). I told them the AC doesn't work and they didn't care as long as it's under warranty. They only offered me $41,000 for it. While they were evaluating my truck, I test drove a 2016 Nissan Titan XD Diesel. It was very nice and if they offered me $43-44K, I would have immediately traded it in for the Titan. The pathetic part is I can't even do a private sale of my truck until the AC is fixed which from what others are reporting could be 2+ months. I'll probably wait for the fixed AC and then immediately sell it and buy a used Titan.
  22. It took about a week after they recharged it to fail again
