  1. Don't know the answer to your question, but the high capacity air filter has nothing to do with air flow but has more pleats and holds more dirt. The standard and high capacity filters are the same size. Also the filter housing is the same no matter what filter you have.
  2. Hours are stored only in the cluster along with mileage. The cluster has its own module.
  3. Its common... .IPC Engine Hour Meter Resets - keywords cluster DIC display hour meter intermittent start up #PIT4368A - (05/29/2007)2003-2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 2003-2007 GMC Sierra ClassicSome owners may comment of the ipc engine hour meter resetting. This concern may be very intermittent and normally occurs at key up and/or start up. GM Engineering is aware of this concern and working on a correction. At this time there has been varying success repairing this concern with the following information: <LI type=1>Check the battery/s with the Midtronic's battery tester and also perform a load test using a Vat40 or similar load tester to make sure the battery/s are in good condition. We have found in some cases a weak battery could cause this concern, this step is very important on vehicles with the 6.6L Diesel Engine where both batteries are used for cranking the engine. <LI type=1>Check the battery cables and make sure all connections are clean and tight. <LI type=1>Check the IPC powers and grounds (G200, G203, G100, G110 and the braided ground strap between the engine and cowl G104 and G107) connections and make sure they are clean and tight. If the IPC has not been replaced, replace the IPC.
  4. I'm glad I'm not having an identity crisis..
  5. Why? And I swear that I saw 16's on an 08 2500HD that were factory...... I think. because i dont like having the same thing that everone else has. my lightning was differnt than any other truck because of the things i did to it. i put an led cadillac 3rd brake light on it, custom grill that i did myself. it stood out. i hate the fact that my truck blends in. if the brake and calipers on the HDs allow for 16s then why wouldnt they be good enough for a 1500?? that's another option to look into as well. i didnt post to get lectures on the safety issues and to be told how important the brakes are. i just wnated to know if anyone has tried it or if it was even possible. maybe it can be done and nobody has tried it. ill figure it out. thanks. HD trucks run front hubs that space the rotors and mounting surface farther apart so the calipers are further inboard. That permits the relatively skinny rims to clear the rotor. Light duty trucks are engineered with the right components to run a lot of inset on the wheels. The HD trucks have different calipers (heavy duty) than the 1500s.
  6. Why? And I swear that I saw 16's on an 08 2500HD that were factory...... I think. When GM went to 17 inch wheels and larger roters in 2005, that was for 1500s. The 2500s stayed the same and came with 16s. Hybrids also stayed the same. See this old thread... http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...;hl=dlstewart01
  7. GM went to the larger rotors and improved calipers in 2005. Putting on 04 and eariler would be a step backwards..
  8. Maybe you are more versed in tribology than I am...This discussion should not be in this thread any way..so I'm out of here..
  9. The link I posted goes to a website that explaines what GC is...Its Castrol Syntec the European Formula...made in germany 0w, 5w, 10w, etc.is not weight but an somewhat arbitrary rating based on the oil low temperature flow and pumping characteristics - SAE J300 (1999) Motor Oil Grades- Low Temperature Specifications. I say somewhat arbitrary in that an oil that meets the 0w standard can be rated 5w or 10w because of the myth that "W" means weight ( it means winter) and 95-99% of the folks that recommend/sale/change oil believe this myth. We'll all heard "I would not use a 0 weight oil in your car.". http://www.tribology-abc.com/abc/viscosity.htm http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/uploads/3/7/0/4...l_viscosity.pdf http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/cms/index.ph...8&Itemid=55
  10. Read this link and you will be enlightened..and I have used GC for the past 4 years with great results... http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbth...t=39&page=1
  11. C and K are still used in the VIN to designate 2 and 4 wheel drive.

  14. Also offered were several Chevy Bonanza/GMC Royal Sierra option groups. They were special year-end promotional packages (analogous to Ford's old "white sale" Explorer pickup packages) with special discounted price groupings of popular appearance/convenience options. Prior to the 1980 model year, the Bonanza/Royal Sierra packages were based on the Z62 trim level with the addition of floor carpeting; after that time, the packages offered a choice of Z84 or YE9 interiors. In later years, Canadian customers wer offered similarly conceived "Wrangler" packages. The Wrangler packages included some very distinctive and exclusive paint/decal features; really neat collector's items! The Bonanza/Royal Sierra/Sequoia models offered essentially nothing other than a grouping of regular production options priced at a discount, and- -from '76 to '79- -substitution of appropriate nameplates in place of the "Scottsdale/Sierra Grande" plates found on equivalently trimmed standard issue pickups.
  15. That would be hard to say. I have never timed it, but I will say it seems to be faster than the average 5.3. Ive had a couple of people kick it to the floor when I was passing them. I passed them any way. Who knows??? Don
  16. you already have synthetic in your tranny. I do? Sweet. Not to be rude, but how can I confirm that? How do I know for a fact that it is Syn oil in there (other then tasting it)? And what style of tranny cooler would come in the GMT900? Thanks. Starting in 2006 GM went to Dextron V1 which is a simi synthetic and backwards compatable for older transmissions. Don
  17. No I don't believe it does, it just goes into over drive at a higher RPM. Don
  18. Hell, I put mine in reverse doing 55 one time. It wasn't in there but a second and I'm still hoping I didn't screw something up. Has worked good sence then. If you must know I was going for N and hit R. Don
  19. Sometimes plastic women are cool. They don't bitch at you for being late or forgetting their birthdays. Hey Don, I just read some of your info. 3/5 CAV is the shiznit! I met some CAV guys when I went on the annual Memorial Batann Death March back in 2006. My USAF Squadron back in 2003 had a Black Knight as its mascot. My last squadron before I retired was a Spartan. The whole damn unit went to watch the movie 300 when it first came out. My commander basically rented one of the screens in the movie theater so no one but us Spartans were in there watching the movie. Everyone around there nearly shit when 250+ folks came into the theater wearing black unit T-shirts. Yeah I spent 1969 in Vietnam with the 3/5 cav. It was May 10-20 AShaw Valley. western Thau Province, I Corps. Operation Apache Snow, hill 937 know as Dong Ap Bia or Hamburger Hill. I believe they made a movie of the operation. The 3/5 Cav received a Presidential citation for our participation. I still have my original Black Knights cavalry scarf. I could have been affected by Agent Orange, I know both my kids were born naked??? If you ain't Cav you ain't S__T Don
  20. How about plastic sheep??
  21. There were 2 on here last night who are familure with plastic women.
  22. You mean like the ones you have to blow up????
  23. Well I'm going to bed. Us old farts can't stay up as long as you young guys. If trailrider tries anything while I'm gone defend my honor or what ever you can muster up. Later The Curmudgeon, Don
