  1. thank you so much for this info. recently installed 1/2" spacers on my trail boss (stock 18" wheels) to fit 35x12.5 tires, leveling kit, Bilstein struts and cognito control arms. I didn't feel great about the 7 thread engagement and couldn't find any other info about extended studs.
  2. Ok so I can't guarantee this will fix your issue, but I'm pretty sure it was mine. My truck made a similar noise to the video on the original post, and I could not figure it out. GM was no help. So, to anyone who has this noise and it's not just your DI system, CHECK YOUR IGNITION COILS AND PLUG WIRES! Somehow one of the plugs on mine loosened and was arking to the header, causing the tick (I believe) and when the engine warmed up, for whatever reason it stopped arking. This could also be a cause for poor, choppy idle if the plug is far enough away from the spark plug head. Probably not a fix all for everyone, but worth a shot.
  3. Very disappointing. iv owned 3 other Silverados before this one, all had well over 200k and were still running great. Really crappy situation because I really like the truck. I'm going to bring it in to the dealership to have them look at it and see what they say, but chances are they'll tell me to wait for GM to come out with a fix, which they wont, itll blow right when my warranty expires and then they'll be happy to fix it. I should've just bought a new Tacoma?
  4. Mine makes the exact noise but quieter. Very strange and definitely not normal. I have 10k miles on my truck and just noticed it a few weeks ago as the mornings got colder. Based on my experience working on engines, this sounds dangerously close to light rod knock and/or piston slap. Disappoints me that I spent 40k on a truck that has this issue without even owning it for a year. Will definitely take it in to get it looked at and hopefully fixed ASAP under warranty. I would encourage anyone else with this issue to do the same immediately to bring this to GMs attention and at the very least have it on paper that your truck has this issue.
