  1. Silverado with 5.3 V8 and 8 speed transmission. On hot days when I do a lot of in town driving, I hear what sounds like what could be a fan running to cool the engine. The weird thing is, if I put the truck in reverse, the sound stops. I hear it in park, neutral, and drive, but it stops in reverse. This sound only happens on hot days with stop and go driving at low speeds. It's the fact that the sounds stops in reverse that I can't figure out. Any input is appreciated.
  2. I found that if I pump my brakes 4 or 5 times before driving first thing in the morning in cold weather, the rubbing noise doesn't happen. Also, the weather has started to warm up where I live and I haven't had the rubbing noise for the last couple of weeks at all without pumping the brakes. The service dept at my dealership gave me a print out of a technical bulletin about debris in the leaf springs. I do not think this is the issue, it's something going on with the passenger side rear brake in cold weather, at least with my truck.
  3. I agree with your idea that it is something to do with the electronic parking brake. My 2020 Silverado first made the exact same noise from the passenger side rear tire after setting the parking brake. Now it does it when it's driven for the first time after setting overnight or sometimes when driving forward after being in reverse. If I drive it long enough to get the tires and brakes warm and then set and release the parking brake, it may not make the noise for a couple of days. Have you found anything new out? Any info I could tell the service dept. would be appreciated.
