Well, after months and months of downtime, the latest try (which was pulling a pin in the drivers door) seems to be the solution. I have tested it now for over a month and I have had no problems. The only glitch I have found is with my Kicker Speaker system in the tailgate (not very loud anymore) but that could be completely unrelated. Keeping my fingers crossed with the colder weather coming in I will use the remote start more often. But it seems fixed. Not having it several times for months on end kind of soured me on the vehicle but here's to hoping I can get some good use out of it now after a couple of years of this. -

Got mine back after months in the shop, again. So far, so good. Its usually about the time I start loving the truck again that it acts up. I had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and I'm hoping things are fixed with the truck, finally. But if it does it again, the problem will probably take care of itself because that should give me the big one! lol -

The truck is with the dealership. I am expecting at least a month. I gave the techs permission to drive it anywhere they need to finally find a solution. We will see how it goes. Hopefully GMC will step up and help them figure this out. There are enough of us who have verbalized the problem, not to mention those who have not, that it should be a priority for GMC. -

What a mess. I had to manually shut off the lights. Got all kinds of messages, service steering, battery save mode, battery low, steering column, lower window, etc.. SCREAMING!! -

Just tried again after an hour charge. Same problem. Also said service steering column lock. Left a message with my dealer service. Did a remote lock but headlights are not going off. I will give it a few minutes. -

Right now the truck is completely dead. I put a trickle charge on it and the lights would randomly flash about every 30 seconds. I put a full charger on it and it immediately triggered the alarm. I hit lock on the remote. Everything is crazy saying service the power steering, lower the driver window, service power brakes, etc.. I figure this is due to the drained battery. I put the charger in start mode and let it go for a few minutes. I pushed on the brake and pushed on the start. The truck tried to start but pushed the brake pedal back at me almost immediately and died. The only good news is it is happening at my house so at least I'm not stranded. The good news for many of you out of warranty is that those of us who have been dealing with this while it was originally under warranty are just as screwed. -

I used the truck over the last 3 days. Went to use it today and completely dead. I had to use the key in the remote to get in so I could open the hood. Dead as a doornail. I'm at the end of my rope. I've been a good guy about it but I am realizing I am wasting my time. No one is taking this seriously. I am after almost three years of this crap. -

If it happened every day they could probably find a solution. No, it just happens at the most inconvenient times. It is generally after a remote start so it occurs more in the colder months. But I have had it happen other times as well. It is a known issue to GMC but they leave it to the dealerships to find the answer. This is something the company should be troubleshooting and fixing. Mine started under the original warranty and I have an extended warranty as well. I feel for those who have had this begin after the original warranty. It is still not fixed even after the replacement of the BCM and various other items. GMC tried to close the case earlier but it is not closed with me. I am waiting to hear from my dealership (who are as perplexed as I am) to see if they have received any help from GMC. I fear the next step is my attorney. I am very sorry for your issue. It takes a truck that you love and makes you question its reliability every day. I can tell you that sucks! -

Unfortunately it is not an easy fix and you should not be charged for this known issue. GM has dropped the ball on this. It will take something more, I fear, before we get them to take responsibility for this. -

I'm sorry everybody, but this had been a known issue for a few years now. My problem started over 2 years ago while I was still under the original warranty. Everyone out of warranty shouldn't have to be paying for this problem. Yet they still do not have a fix. I have been a good guy about this for a long time but that is starting to change. They tell me they have a fix, I get that good feeling about my truck (which I loved) again, and then WHAM. Remote Learn Pending. If it is only a few trucks that this affects, then make it right. I can't afford to trade this truck off, and I never want to. Nor would I do this to someone else. I someone knows about any legal actions I am finally open to them. I'm also extremely frustrated. I've owned the truck from new and have really only gotten to use it sparingly in the last year and a half or more. And why does this happen when you have to be somewhere quick or you are 1,000 miles from home? Tip: if you need to get someone to the hospital in an emergency, call an ambulance. Don't depend on GMC. -

the dealership has been great. they replaced the BCM and i had them do the 50k mile service even though this problem has plagued me for over 2 years and before the warranty ran out. I finally got everything reprogrammed and i thought i have my beloved truck back. then tonight it did it again. i didnt even remote start it but i got the remote learn pending with no control or power other than the door locks. i cant believe they cant find the problemto all of our trucks. ive had it. i fear it is time to explore my options. out of respect for everone on here i will not say what i want to say. you can probablyhear me screaming. at 65 i thought i had found my vehicle but a truck must not be for me. %#^&##%%!!! -

Just heard from the dealer and the engineer was there and remotely checked my truck from 60 miles away. They are going to try to replace the body control module to see if that helps. I will hear from them some time next week. -

Cranium: I have had this happen after driving through a strong rain shower as well (the key fob problem). The dealer changed some cables but that did not seem to work. Lately I have been using a trickle charger on the vehicle every 10 days for a few days. I have not had the problem again, even after several remote starts. The problem always happened after using the fob to remote start the vehicle and that has not happened in 2 months after using the tricle charger regularly which indicates to me a slow discharge somewhere. I have a new battery as well. You might try the occasional charge just to see if you have the continuation of your problem. -

So GMCustomerServic tried to fix the problem. They replaced a number of cables through my local (55 miles away) dealership but I still have not seen an invoice so I don't know what all they did. Something with the ignition, etc. GM covered some from the original warranty because this all started while in the warranty period. The rest was covered by my extended 150,000 mile warranty. I received an email from GMCustomerService saying the problem is fixed and they will file it all away. I replied that I still have the remote start problem but have heard nothing back. The dealership is a little perplexed by it all. I went to start it over Christmas and it was completely dead even though I have a 2 month old battery. Nor response from GM anymore. I have tried placing a maintainer charger on the truck and I have not had anymore problems at this point but I also bought another vehicle and drive it most of the time so I've used the truck twice (used to be my favorite vehicle, EVER!). There was talk of buyback, points, etc. but I'm not interested. This is the 2020 Pacifica Blue AT4 that is absolutely awesome. The only thing it doesn't have is the "smart" cruise but the adaptive cruise is excellent. My only suggestion to those of you still facing this problem is try to keep a solid charge. My service tech at the dealership has allowed me to send the "Remote Learn Pending" screenshot to her when I have the problem so we can document everything. That's it for now. -

Tis the season. The problems are back. Of course they waited until I was 1200 miles away on a trip. 2 mornings in a row I got the "programming remote" message and could not start the truck. My 2020 truck is my favorite vehicle of all time, especially if I want all of the cool programmed features, etc. But it would be nice to be able to rely on it actually driving. I had the battery replaced when I got back but low and behold I'm locked out again this morning. The only solution is call my dealer (60 miles away) and then they have no clue what the problem is because, of course, it doesn't happen for them. I am starting to think I got a lemon. I also keep getting little quirks like "park assist" is always locked out, or it can't find my phone for a while. It seems like there is something between the security and entertainment system that just keeps hiccuping. Finally beyond frustration. If GM wants to help, they need to call and talk to my dealer and find a definitive solution. Or make it right somehow. (I really don't want to buy another truck). -

I charged the battery and keep any peripherals unplugged. I unplug any charging cables, etc. I haven't had any issues since then. I do however have problems with OnStar every month or so. I push the button and nothing. It seems like something in the electronics gets scrambled. Just like the starting issue, after sitting for a half hour or more, things seem to reset. I feel like the media system and security system are linked and the issues continue to happen. Of course I'm out of warranty now. -

I could not get it to replicate for the dealer (of course). It is noted for the record with the dealership but I don't know how to get it addressed if I can't get it to happen when needed. I have done 2 things that you could try. First, the last time this happened, I waited 30 minutes and the vehicle started. I parked it at home for 4 days and when I got back, it was completely dead (battery). I fully charged the battery and I (#2) unplugged all usb/acc plugs. I have continued to unplug all accessories and plug in what I need after starting. I have not had the problem happen again. I keep a piece of wood in the truck so I can knock on it! -

I talked to my rep today after sending her the info above and she said it makes sense. I will let you all know how things go Wednesday (had to change the appointment on my end). They will do the diagnostics as described above. -

I was wondering how everything is going. I had this same problem 4 or 5 months ago. They told me the chip/acc stuff. It wasn't until yesterday that I remote started my truck because of the cold and low and behold, I could not get in and start it with the push button start. I waited several hours and it started right up. Did the window solution fix it? Also, for everyone with this problem: does it happen only when you remote start with the fob or app? Like I said, I have had no problems for months, but I also did not remote start it either. I have a service appointment on Tuesday (5 days) and of course, I'm about 600 miles over warranty (I did buy a new 150000 mile warranty just before my factory warranty ended) but my rep said they would work with GM and was very open to the problem. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.
